While this is true, the US was still in a better position in terms of standard of living than literally every other country on Earth. Nowadays, other nation have moved past what the US both was and is. There are too many social issues in the US and too much division for it to be considered "great" like it used to be. Trump isn't helping. I wholeheartedly believe the world is worse today due to the collapse of Imperial Germany, and had the USA stay out of WWI entirely, it would've almost certainly ended in a stalemate with the west ultimately banding together against communism and the Empire of Japan, leading to greater global stability now.
