One of his neighbours used a pole with a string on it to pin it down. That's why the dogs were able to get so close without getting eaten.

Thing was fucking huge. We ended up putting it into the bed of a pick up and drove a few kilometres away and released it into the jungle.

It's the first time I've seen a wild python here. I've seen a King Cobra, regular cobra and some kind of viper but none were that big (the king cobra was almost as long but not nearly as thick.

I didn't see Jungle. My mom is from Thailand and we were in Rayong not that long ago. :D

We have King Cobras in Hong Kong but I've never seen one in the wild. That's why I asked.

My wife's family is actually from Rayong originally. And yea, his house is in a small village (well more like a really small suburb) on the edge of the city. Pretty thick jungle around within half a kilometre. We figured the snake was there trying to hunt rats (or possibly small street dogs).

I actually really like them. When I lived in Canada I hate a 7' red tailed boa and a 4' ball python that were actually housed together (they got a long great, would even share the same hide).

But when I nearly ran over that king cobra with my motorcycle I thought I was going to shit myself. Never lifted my legs into the air so fast in my life. Missed running it over by inches.

That thing could likely eat my daughter. There was also that incident in Canada like 2 years ago where that huge python (think it was a reticulated) killed those 2 kids in their sleep.

Boas don't get that big if I remember correctly. Colombian Red Tailed Boas are the biggest and females only get to around 7'-8'. We could be wrong but we're fairly sure it was a python. Even the Thai guy who lasso'd it said it was a python.

Good on you for taking the time to do a "catch and release" instead of just killing it.

If it was a cobra I would have killed it for sure but pythons are relatively harmless. Only animal I kill on my property are geckos. Those fucking things cover the walls of my house every night and shit everywhere. I use them as target practice with my airsoft guns.

Yeah, all fucking bets are off if it's a cobra. You don't want that thing getting anywhere near you or yours.

Being from Alberta too, I almost can't imagine living somewhere that actively has reptiles all over the place. Like a literal wall of the things? Haha. Big spiders and other creepy shit too I'd imagine.

Yea back home in Alberta I don't think I ever saw a wild reptile. Just had to deal with the massive mosquito infestations every year.

Here on the other hand, it's fucking crazy. Insects literally everywhere. If you leave the door open in the evening your house will be swarmed with bugs of all different types. I don't mind the reptiles as they never bother you but I have a 15 month old and the geckos shit everywhere and I don't need her treading onto it everywhere she goes.

I won't even pour cereal in the dark anymore. Did it once about 2 years ago, started walking back upstairs and felt stuff crawling on my hand. The bowl was full of hundreds of tiny ants. They manged to infest the entire box of cereal which had only been bought that day and opened about 2 hours earlier.
