I might be going to one of those local carnivals tomorrow. The ones that pop up around summer time and travel the country. I heard of that terrible accident at the ohio one. maybe like cedar point's rides are much safer than those carnivals, though

Who knows? Shit happens. You could die at any moment, no matter where you live.

While driving, your vehicle's brakes could malfunction and you could crash into something solid. While walking, someone could drive into you or you could be pummeled by an errant toilet seat from space. You could choke to death while eating or you could have a heart attack. You could shake hands with someone that is unknowingly-sick with disease. You could eat contaminated food and realize too late.

You only live once. Make the most of it.

My dad's former coworker said they'd round up local teens to help build the rides for a bit of money, himself included, and everyone basically slacked off and he's too scared to ride them knowing how unsafe they can be.

Usually they're reasonably safe. Given that pretty much any time there's a serious injury it makes national headlines, it's pretty rare considering how many people use them. Plus, if you do get killed, you get an interesting obituary.
