Cecil is the very last NPC to fall, and the only NPC to make the top 10. Must be some pretty high praise right? You’re damn right it is, Cecil is amazing. So first of all she’s a damn good looking woman, if I based waifus on looks alone, she might just win it all. She has a gorgeous smile, beautiful flowing hair, and a pair of boobs you could use as a pillow. She looks great no matter what she wears, and she pulls it off with casual charm. In terms of story, she’s Lloyd’s Sister in Law. Or was, until his older brother died. Regardless, Cecil’s family raised Lloyd like they were family, and she grew into a sort of big sister role for Lloyd. She dotes on him constantly, wondering whether one of the girls in the SSS is his special somebody, and she seems to take great joy in teasing him. She’s a nurse at the foremost medical college in the continent, and judging by what her patients say, she’s an ace nurse, her gentle demeanor and dedication are stunning attributes for anyone to have. What more could you possibly want from a woman? Sure she might be a little air-headed sometimes, but that’s not the worst negative trait you could have.

The First Noel is also the last Noel on this list. Well it ain’t christmas yet, but having Noel around makes me feel like I got a great present. She’s a super cutie, and she has a great hat. Her hair is cut short, but it doesn’t detract from her cute look at all. She’s a member of the Crossbell Guardian Force when you first meet her, and the primary aide to Sonya. She’s talented in the use of firearms (all of them, sometimes all at once), and the operation of any number of orbal vehicles. She’s also a bit of an otaku for cars which is really adorable. I bet she’d love Angie’s bike, and might duel Rean for it, hahaha. Anyway, she’s a guest star party member in Zero, joining you for a few dungeons, but she doesn’t become a full fledged party member until Ao, where she’s a super useful physical attacker in the early game thanks to the wide range of her SMG’s.

Her biggest strength to me, other than how good she looks in her uniform, is her dedication. She believes in Crossbell, and she’s willing to do anything to defend it. Unfortunately that dedication does put her against the party in the final chapter, but Lloyd quickly brings her back to her senses in a duel, and she finds renewed drive to fight with the rest of the SSS. She very much plays the straight man to a lot of the antics the SSS faces, but she faces adversity with a smile, and always does her best. I definitely admire her a lot, and she’s another character I want to see return in Cold Steel 3.

Are you ready for the purple Lightning? Few people are. Sara is pretty amazing, and I think overall I have her even higher than the last time I ran a waifu rankings topic. It’s close I think. Anyway, she’s super hot, which is almost a prerequisite to make it this far. She’s a total badass as well, becoming the youngest person to ever become an A Rank bracer, and she probably would have continued along those lines had Osbourne not taken the bracers out of power in Erebonia. She became Class 7’s teacher on an invite from Thor’s Principal, and even though her teaching method is unorthodox, she gets great results from her students (somehow). She does like drinking booze (a lot), which is usually a negative for me, but she’s about as harmless a drunk as it gets. She’s an emotional person, but she uses her emotions in positive ways, and doesn’t dwell on the mistakes of the past. She doesn’t forget them, but she is strong enough to grow and move past them. Sara is love, Sara is life, but the cream of the crop is super creamy. Or however that goes.

Fie is a character who really grew on me as the Cold Steel series went on. I always found her cute, and she had some funny moments, but she spent a lot of time after that developing from a solitary girl who didn’t want friends, to one of the emotional pillars of class 7. Watching her subtle growth was a real treat, and was one of my favourite characters in the series because of it. She had the opportunity to face her past and grow and develop thanks to some of the Zephyr Remnants sticking around to set off the Erebonian Civil War. I don’t think she has much chemistry with Rean as a romance, but as teammates they bounce off each other pretty well. She has a great sense of humour, and is just cool overall. Her design also gets a major upgrade in Cold Steel 3, going from a petite white haired kid with great abs to… well I mean she’s still petite with great abs, but now she has super long super stylish hair. She also joined the bracers after graduating from Thors so… it’ll be nice to see how she takes the path that Rean might have walked himself. <3 Fie.

The run on Cold Steel continues with the lady of the sword, Laura S. Arseid. Her middle name is a mystery, it could stand for Sandlot, it could stand for Sword, hell it might even stand for Sexy Lady because Laura is all about that casual sex appeal. Sara has sex appeal, but it’s very in your face, but Laura has it without needing to flaunt it. Her confidence is evident in everything she does, and because of her training, she responds to walls and obstacles with the trudge forward and break them down mentality. She’s not stupid either, just very honest and straightforward. She does have a very cute competitive side to her, and she hates to see people dogging it who she considers rivals, she just wants them to be their very best. It’s an admirable sentiment, but it can get on people’s nerves sometimes, since they’re trying to live their own lives. Part of Laura's big development is getting past her prejudices and accepting that other people can live their lives as they choose. It may take her a while, but she does get to understanding it eventually.

That's part of the reason she has a hard time working with Fie, they approach situations entirely differently, they come from different backgrounds, and they have different attitudes towards what needs to be done. Some of the bonding events showed that Laura isn’t very capable when it comes to domestic affairs, but I don’t really see that as an issue, considering I’m capable with domestic affairs, and I think in Laura’s case it’s only a matter of learning how things work and putting them into practice. She’s a wonderful woman, and she’ll only grow more radiant with time. Plus she’s the biggest shit kicker you get for a party member in Cold Steel, hands down.

Well, Rixia is basically a walking spoiler for the Crossbell games so, you have been warned. She’s a dancer of the Arc En Ciel troupe, after being scouted by Ilya. Of course, she didn’t come to crossbell just to dance, no instead she came here on a contract from the Black Moon Company, Heiyue. She’s part of a family of assassins known only as Yin, and as Yin she’s something of an urban legend as an assassin. In terms of the party members you get, she’s the strongest according to the story, being the only person to be able to stand up to Arianrhod’s assault after it knocked the rest of your party down. She struggles a lot with her path in life, since becoming Yin was chosen for her since before she was born, but she really loves being on the stage with Ilya. Looks wise, she’s a total smoke show. Great legs, a great booty, and big giant breasts just hanging out there for the world to admire. It makes the fact that she’s a world class assassin even more impressive when you consider how much extra weight she has to lug around. She’s very humble when talking about her own talents, but in a short amount of time, she’s become just as well beloved as Ilya on the stage, and she is a great party member in the short amount of time you get her in the Crossbell games. After the events of Ao, she chooses to no longer live as the assassin Yin, but instead as the artist, Rixia Mao.

While she is convinced she’s meant to only play the role of Yin, people like Lloyd, Ilya and the rest of the SSS got her to open up and truly embrace everything she is. She’s incredibly kind, and deeply cares for the people close to her. While she is willing to engage in deals with shady people, she’s strong enough and smart enough to know how to handle any situations that could arise because of it. She’s beautiful, charming, and a wonderful woman, and is just barely off of my Waifu for Laifu tier.

I understood it as she has inherited her own path, but I am getting vastly different readings from different sources. Having the game fully translated would help more, but having an appearance in Cold Steel 3 might seal the deal in a certain direction. I know she cut off her contract with Heiyue, so I assumed she was done with the whole assassin business but... who knows.

Well let’s kick off the best tier in style, with Estelle muffaluffin Bright. She’s definitely the character that has gotten the most TLC from Falcom, from her growth to a naive and innocent junior bracer, to a thoughtful, kind and overwhelmingly optimistic woman. Estelle truly lives up to the sobriquet of Shining Sun, as she brightens everyone’s spirits just by being there. Estelle trends more towards cute than sexy, but I also tend to trend that way for aesthetics. Everything she does in the series is heartwarming, from being a good older sister to Joshua, or Renne, or Tita in a sort of adoptive sense, Estelle does her best to make her family and friends happy. In battle she basically never leaves your party in the first two chapters, and acts as an all rounder, decent magic stats, decent physical stats, and some very useful crafts for a variety of situations.

She’s also a highly capable woman, showing she’s not as dumb as she acts early in First chapter. When she puts her mind to it, she can deduce things that others may have missed, though I’ll admit that doesn’t come up much, since her role is more to be the extroverted heart of the team, while Joshua is the more introverted brains of the operation. Anyway, when it comes down to it, I think Estelle is ultra cute and about as perfect as it can get.

Deciding Number 1 was super difficult. I just wanted to do a 4 way tie for first, but that felt a little absurd and unfair. Someone has to be number 1, and sadly for Kloe, it isn’t her. She’s a very gentle and kind woman, who over the course of the Trails games develops into a woman capable of ruling Liberl once Queen Alicia decides to fully hand the reins to her. Her real name is Klaudia Von Auslese, the Kloe moniker is used simply to blend in at the Royal Academy without drawing too much attention to herself. During the 100 day’s war she was separated from her escort, and was taken in by the Mercia Orphanage. As thanks for what they did, she often helps Matron Theresa with the work there during her time off school. She’s one of the few PC’s in Sky who got a lot of her development in the first chapter, instead of having to wait until the second, like Schera, Olivert, and Zin.

In battle she’s most skilled as a healer, having most of her slots dedicated to water quartz. She’s probably your best arts user thanks to the strength of female only equipment being geared towards arts bonuses, Mind quartz being Water in the sky series, and just her natural growths. She’s one of the most indispensable party members thanks to her full heal S-Craft, which is the second best one in the Sky series I think (second only to Grail Sphere of course).

She’s beautiful with short purple hair, and a mindful considerate gaze. She has a wig she wears for royal ceremonies, but I think the short hair is a better look on her. She can rock a skirt, but I think her best look is her imperial ambassador wear, it makes her look dignified, yet charming all the same. Kloe is an incredible woman who is worthy to be queen of Liberl.

It’s everyone’s favourite tiny senpai time! What? You’re saying there are people out there who don’t like Towa? Ridiculous! Crazy! Absurd! Towa is amazing, she’s heaven and earth! Alright, enough filigree, let’s get right down to why Towa is the best. First of all, she’s the student council president of Thors, which means in addition to being an expert with logistics, she could probably teach the curriculum of class 7, because we all know Sara isn’t doing any of the busy work if she can just foist it onto Towa. She’s an incredibly kind and supportive woman, always there for whatever student needs it. She’s also super cute and cuddly. It’s not just because she’s so smol, but she’s incredibly cute when she’s flustered, or angry, or just anything! She’s a bit of a workaholic because of this, but regardless of what is put on her plate, she gets in done in a timely and excellent manner. Hell, she was even made acting captain of a frigging Airship in Cold Steel 2. If that doesn’t say competent, I dunno what does.

She isn’t in your party for very long in CS2, only making appearances when you retake Thors and for the bonus dungeon, so you aren’t really going to get her settled into your party that quickly. She’s very talented with Arts, and has a few unique crafts that other characters just plain don’t get, like the ability to cast the weakness status effect on enemies.

Looks wise, she just takes the cake. I’m sure I’ve mentioned how adorable and cute she is a lot, but it’s one of those things that can’t be overstated. She has an adorable smile, I love the way her face is framed with her brown hair tied up in a ponytail, she rocks black leggings like no one’s business, and she gets a very good hat in Cold Steel 2 when she becomes captain of the courageous. She’s just an A+ kind of girl, no one can match how cute and sweet she is.

Well this was a fun one. Elie is with the SSS from the very beginning, just like Tio. And in a very similar way to Alisa, she gets the most overall scenes with Lloyd, indicating that if there was a canon choice in the games, it’d probably be her. In any case, astute english players could probably surmise that she’s related to Chairman MacDowell of the Crossbell Government. And you’d be right, she’s his granddaughter. And as his granddaughter she is well versed in Law and Politics, and that knowledge comes in handy for the SSS multiple times. She joined the police because she was looking for a different path than her parents or her grandparents, the world of politics tore her family apart, and she wanted to see if there was another way to fix the wrongs that plague Crossbell. I’d say Elie’s story is mostly deeply tied into the corruption and wrongdoings going around in crossbell. Regardless of the situation, she’s always well prepared to lend a hand and be the voice of reason when Lloyd proposes something insanely risky, or Randy does something stupid. She’s a nice balancing force to the cast of characters in the SSS, and a vital part of the team.

Combat wise, Elie is about even with Tio as a caster, specializing in Wind Quartz rather than Water Quartz. Her cast time ends up being a bit faster because of this, but Tio generally beats her in raw power. She has a few useful utility crafts, which is nice because Delay is not the beast that it is in Cold Steel, so being able to impede arts, heal allies, and have allies jump the turn order are vital skills. She also uses a gun, letting her cast and attack enemies from a safe distance. She won’t hit as hard as Lloyd or Randy, but her damage isn’t negligible either.

As for her appearance, she’s definitely way up there when it comes to beauty. She has beautiful long flowing pearl grey hair, and cute grey eyes as well. Her standard outfit is a pink and white longcoat over black leggings. I may have mentioned this before, but I am a sucker for leggings on girls, they just make them look so good. She also has a fancy party dress in Zero, and a swimsuit in Ao, that both show off her prime assets, because it’s hard to get a picture of just how stacked she is until she shows a little bit of cleavage because… GOD DAYUM, she is stacked. With all things considered, it was a very difficult choice for the top spot, but in the end, I think Elie won my heart over the most. She’s kind, intelligent, multi talented, and not to mention incredibly beautiful. The Trails series has many incredible women, but Elie takes the cake.

Would probably say that Estelle is the best female Trails character (and the best overall in general, but yeah). Well, her or Renne. Renne is just amazing in 3rd and is somehow the best part of Zero. I can see Estelle being less of a waifu-choice though, since I assume sporty girls aren't really most of this board's type.

Elie pretty good in terms of development and such. I like her political side a fair bit. Her personality is a little more bland than the other Crossbell girls though. She's kinda the opposite of Noel in that respect. Lots of cool story involvement and developing, not so much great personality. I don't like her design that much either. I think Sky's character designs were way better than Crossbell's in general though. The returning Sky characters all look worse in their Crossbell portraits too.

Renne started out amazing and somehow only got better in 3rd. Easily in my top 5 characters from the series. (Well top 4 really since there is a clear divide between top 4 and whoever #5 is, but 5 is a more neat number of characters)

Bear in mind I haven't played the Crossbell games though, so I'm expecting more characters will enter into that tier once/if I do.

Kinda surprised at the Lloyd love. Is it just because he's the main character or something? He has rather less depth than some of the other characters. He's good when he's investigating things and using his powers of deduction (though it's a little silly how shocked everyone gets every time he does this <_<). Not so good in his relationships with other people though. Bit too generic.

Plus (Ao Spoilers) it's pretty hypocritical that he doesn't get KeA to bring things back to normal and make the party dead again...

In total fairness I was also spoiled* for the equivalent thing in Cold Steel, which didn't impact my experience much. So I guess we'll see! (continuing off previous comments on my Zero/Ao spoilers) Also I'm pretty sure I learned the name at some point previously while getting overzealous in my Wiki searching about Ouroboros things and then completely forgot it, so who knows maybe that will end up happening again.

I don't think so. Or at least I don't know. I think 2017 was ruled out, but I don't know if there's even a release window in place.

I have heard 2018 some time. I would guess like spring or summer.
