Fans are labeling these as "Elseworld" movies like the comics lol sounds like DC/WB can't handle a huge movie franchise like this. Might as well have the TV actors portray their characters in the movies now that the whole confusion excuse is out the window.

From the sound of it, that's exactly what this Batman film is going to do.

Maybe not replace all the actors (I'd assume they'd keep Gal Gadot, and I feel like they would keep Henry Cavil if he wanted to keep doing the role)

But for all intents and purposes, if these rumors are true, it sounds like they're just scrapping and starting over.

They can call them "Elseworlds" all they want, if they become hit's then they'll become connected.

oh, and if you listen to the podcast where he says this, it's in the context of having his own vision for a Batman movie and also praise for Patty Jenkins and what she was able to do with WW. I think it means"standalone" in a sense that it's not a sequel or direct prequel to BvS/JL, much in the same way WW was connected to previous films in a very loose way with very few cameos.

I have an idea.

Let this actor take over as Batman and have the damn movie tie-in to the DCCU. Aside from one or two fans with extreme OCD, Edward Norton turning into Mark Ruffalo did not ruin the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It's acting. Sometimes, a character is played by more than one actor. I can understand if an individual typifies a role, but that is not the case. Most people aren't really sold on Ben Affleck. So if the new guy does a better job, let him take over.



Or maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way. Maybe this is a subtle attempt at a reboot like the Justice League and Batman Vs Superman are the Amazing Spider-Man 1&2 of DC cinema.
