I actually have a plan for this.
Scenario: a military convoy has an accident and releases infected zombies. One of the noninfected soldiers or a scientist makes it to my house and gives warning. He provides video on a phone of the infection. He then kills himself or otherwise goes out of the picture.

Are you currently alone?
No. Wife and 2 kids

What do you immediately do?
Check water levels and start pumping the well for extra water. Board up windows and doors with wood from the shed

Where will you go?
I'm riding it out at home unless I know of a safe place.

What will you bring along?
I have a months supply of food. Over 100 gallons of water. Arms and equipment to ride out two weeks of a disaster.

Who do contact? If anyone.
Parents and tell them to get here.

What's terrain like where you are?
Heavily wooded. Houses sit on 2 to 20 acres of land. One road in. Nearest town is cleveland 30 minutes away.

Note: if my solar radio warns that things are escalating and infection is uncontained. I would eliminate neighbors and take their supplies. That radius of death would expand as my supplies dwindled.

1. No, I just got to work (gas station).
2. Load up my car with all the food and drinks I can grab from the store, as well as my coworker's.
3. Call up my other coworker who lives about 2 minutes away and is a gun nut. Tell him to grab all the weapons and ammo he's got and meet us at his doorstep in 2 minutes. Then head out to the countryside somewhere.
4. See #2 & #3.
5. Call my parents and my brother and give them a heads up. Let them know where we're heading, tell them to meet us there, and wish them luck.
6. Suburbs of Cleveland, but only about 20-minute drive to get to the middle of bum-fuck nowhere, Ohio.

I think we've got a pretty good shot, tbh. The gas station is a pretty good place to start from, since with all the food and drinks we'd be set for a good while. And my coworker nearby has 5 or 6 different guns in his collection, including a few pistols and I think a shotgun. He takes good care of them too, so they'd all be in perfect working order. Our defensive capabilities would be pretty solid. And once we get to the highway we'd pretty much be home free. Overall, probably a 9/10 chance to survive.

Damn, I'm in a rough situation. I need gas for my car, and my girlfriend and I are currently undressed. I guess we'd immediately throw something on and hope that her car has some fuel in it. I'd also feed my betta (hopefully not the last time), strap on my pistol with all of my ammunition, and grab all of the long term food in our kitchen like water or sealed snacks and throw them into several bags.

I'd ignore all of my neighbors as for the most part I don't know them or they'd be a huge annoyance and constantly freaking out. After prep, and assuming we have gas, we'd immediately begin driving along our major highway going north through Dallas (about 5 hours away). I can't imagine the spread of infected keeping up with highway speeds and we'd go and see my family and plan our next stage. If we end up going towards the initial outbreak I'd immediately take a detour (plenty here) and find any other way north.

No idea after that. My betta would be good for a week assuming nothing breaks in, and I would likely wait it out at my parent's considering my dad's arsenal of guns/food at home. I would hope I could save my betta at one point if everything clears up. If not, rip Poe.

Also, our current apartment would have no chance at surviving zombies or people. And the sheer density of the population of where I live would likely result in chaos within town and the massive amount of vehicles blocking every exit out if given enough time.

Edit: Another essential grabbed would be my portable solar battery/generator. It has enough juice to charge a laptop and/or several phones, and can be recharged over the course of a few hours. This thing would be crucial to maintaining communication if more time is required than the estimated five hours. Laptop would definitely be grabbed as well.

The outbreak is 7 minutes away by car, or by foot? I think the scenario would be better if it were distance as opposed to time.

Regardless, it really depends how much time I have. I have the materials to fortify my current location, but it would take time. More than 7 minutes.

If it's only 7 minutes then I'll need to focus on moving all the food, water and weeping to the top floor and barricade the stairs as best I can.

But really, I live in gun country. A zombie outbreak just wouldn't become a problem if it originated here.

1.No.
2.Call people. Load weapons. Remove porches.
3.Nowhere.
4.N/A.
5.About a dozen households - all armed, all invited.
6.Middle of nowhere. Surrounded by thick, swampy forest on all sides at the dead end of a long dirt road. Surrounded by river and steep, high banks on three sides.
7. From 1 to fucked? Probably a 1. There's gates, wooden fences, and barbed wire fences - new and old, all over the place on the property and neighboring properties. There's literally years worth of food stored in the house and months worth of water, with more readily available. All of the windows are too high off the ground to jump to, even if the zombies could find the one viable way here, and make it past all the other armed and protected homes along the way. With the porches gone, one door is unreachable and you might just barely be able to jump and grab the very bottom of the other doorway. Really only one spot to defend. There are also cameras and generators on the property.

Of course, something like World War Z zombies would be a different story, they had some intelligence. That takes it from a 1 to a fucked pretty quickly.

Iunno it's rather sparse suburbia/rural hybrid shit around here. I guess forests where there's no property.

To be perfectly honest, the city/town I live in is no tiny town, it's mid-sized but it's very spread out. So even if an outbreak occurs within seven minutes of me, chances are very little that it'll spread far.
