I've always wanted to do cosplay. But I've always felt too self conscious about it and also kind of clueless. Also, I have zero artistic ability, I can't craft anything for shit. So I have no idea how to make costumes and if I tried they'd look like garbage. I also don't want to spend too much money.

Any tips?

But I've always felt too self conscious about it

Because your concerned about your own image or because it's embarrassing to do halloween in front of thousands of people at a convention center?

I ventured into this not too long ago and you don't need to start off where you see the professionals are at. Most con goers that do this use whatever they have available.

Start with characters that have more simple design and work your way up. My first cosplay was killua from HxH cus he wore regular clothes. I just put on a wig and added purple and white felt to some old shoes. All I used was a hot glue gun. Really simple.

Now that I've done a couple different ones I'm branching out and tried a cosplay that needed to use body paint. I learned about using hairspray as a sealant so it doesn't wipe over everything. I'm picking up little tidbits here and there but I do it for fun and nothing serious. Not sure what route you want to go with it.

I'm pretty frugal too so I don't really have a hankering to go too far with it.

Ask stuff about it with other cosplayers.

If you like what you heard, go do cosplay stuff with them. The thing that holds us back is our confidence towards something new. We dont know how. We are out of place.

Learn from them. Share with them. Participate in themed cosplay with them. Then use what you found out to make your own with your ideas. Uniqueness is a quality and your ideas can inspire others. Turning idea to something tangible is a great thing and those who appreciate will let you know.

One of the best things you can do for something like this is to start letting cosplayers know how well the cosplay is. Its an icebreaker.

More insecure about how I look. I feel like I'm decently attractive but I'm no model or anything.

I don't know any cosplayers. I've only been to one con before and it was for work so I didn't mingle. I kind of want to get into it but don't know where to start at all. I'm not the most outgoing kind of girl.

Maybe you can start off learning some of the craft skills by modifying existing outfits? I don't know... but I think it does become a very expensive hobby over time

have big boobs

show off big boobs

horny guys take selfies with you and post them online

now you are famous

now you can find sponsors

they pay you to showcase their product while your brainwash men into having a favorable view of the product because all they can see is your boobs

You can just buy costumes to start

What the pros do for characters with armor and shit is get a special type of plastic that you can mold once you get it hot, then spray paint it.

It's actually not too hard

Yeah I don't have big boobs at all. Adds to the whole too self conscious bit.

You have to be really sleazy and your butt and chest need to show while you insist its just an outfit and you did it for the love of the character and not for the mountains of attention your getting as everyone takes pictures of your butt and chest.

I dunno about "getting into" cosplay, like it has to be some big thing. Just buy a cosplay outfit for a character you like and go to a con.

I wish I could get that kind of attention. ;_;
