Already started a new game myself.

I loved the vanilla game, put over 100 hours into it at launch. Didn't get the hate back then, tbh, as it was pretty much exactly what I was expecting. I stopped playing a little before the first big update because I had a backlog of other games at the time, and decided since this newest one was a very story-heavy update it'd be the perfect time to go back and see how far the game has come.

I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far, but I can't stand the new flight controls. The ability to hover on planets is nice, but everything feels very sluggish while flying. And the fact that you don't immediately jump out of the ship when you land would be a nice touch IF you could look around before getting out. But unless I'm missing something, there's no way to freely look around in your cockpit, so when you land you're just stuck staring straight ahead until you get out which kind of defeats the whole purpose of being able to check if it's safe first...

don't really wanna spoil it. thats why this topic is aimed at people who already have the game and obviously haven't been keeping up with the updates. I played it for about 30 minutes on launch, was abysmally disappointed, and dropped it until the Atlas Rises launch.

It's still not GOTY material, but more or less everything reasonable I wanted in the game is there now. People are saying they should have just delayed the game another year and released it how it is now, but people are forgetting how many delays the game already had >_>. The game probably wouldn't be in the state it is now without player feedback.
