Did they help you feel better? Do they increase thoughts or feelings of suicide? Negative effects? ect.

They made me feel a lot better, but I had depression for a long time before seeking treatment. It wasn't triggered by any sort of event.

Fun fact, Fluoxetine was highly marketed and prescribed because you couldn't down your prescription to intentionally OD.

Ehem. Sorry.

I was depressed about normal school/family problems in high school
They put me on anti depressants.
They didnt do anything
Talked to a shrink and she said its not chemical but depression over normal problems
I more or less dealt with the problems and dropped anti depressants
Im very stressed and worried but i havnt been depressed in many years

Yes. Yes. No but they did cause some anxiety. See previous. And it also took forever to get off.

Tried several last year, each one caused unpleasant side effects with very minimal or no positive changes. I ended up just not renewing my prescription. That's the same time I stopped therapy too.

I live on anti-depressants, among other things. Suicidal thoughts are constant for me, but they are less overbearing when I stick to my med regime. It took trying 8 or so different combinations before I found something that worked for me. They don't make you "happy". They just put a minor sort of foggy feeling on your brain that gets more and more uncomfortable the more depressed you are feeling. But you stay in control, you still have more energy, and still have some motivation. Sometimes. But you're still depressed.

Off meds I'm an unstable mess who can't communicate without crying or getting frustrated and I barely have the energy to lie in bed and browse CE all day.

The most common side effect, and the only one that effects me, is that it completely kills sex. My dick only gets half-hard and I can't deed because it just feels numb after like 30 seconds. I can force myself to climax with enough friction, but you can barely call it an orgasm.

Zoloft, Lexapro, and Prozac.

None helped me. Made me go from feeling bad to feeling nothing and generally apathetic. That may sound like a step up to you but it's really a step down to me. Like I was having bad thoughts, but I still cared about everyone around me and wanted to get things done. Once I got put on them I really just didn't care about anything. Affected work performance and personal relationships a great deal.

Different medicines have different effects on different people so don't let other people's anecdotal evidence sway your opinion or choices. That discussion is best left up to you and your doctor

Withdrawal is a total bitch.

Start with something simple, like B12.

Yeah I'd recommend working through your depression via more "natural" means (physical activity, socialising, counselling) before turning to medication. They're not something you "try". They're something you turn to because there is something chemically wrong with your brain that NEEDS to be put right.

I have eaten 3 or 4 kinds in last ten years. They all did pretty much the same thing, they took the edge of all feelings. It didn't balance anything, it just made that i never felt as depressed or as happy as i used to. They didn't help me through anything though. Everything remained just as difficult. Tbh, i haven't met anyone irl who had any help from those, only online people praise them, but it might be just placebo effect.

Still, if you're very depressed and nothing helps might as well just give those a go, though quitting them is not so easy. I get pretty strong side effects if i leave my pills for even one day. I get very irritated, and i get so strong zaps (idk what else to call them) when i do look fast anywhere that i can even feel those zaps in my chest. After two days i feel like i could get a heart attack if i kept looking from left to right long enough.

I would suggest to do anything else than start eating pills. You might get easier time at first but after few years everything might be ten times shittier, also who knows what kind of long term/permanent fuckery those do to your head. If you find it very difficult to be in social places take propranolol, at least it can be quitted at any time and it works very well. Then doing some life style changes like taking long walks everyday, going from coffee to tea, and making sure you're outside two hours everyday.

Don't ask for people's opinion. You wouldn't do so for heart medication, why do you do so now?

Go to your doctor, ask them. Get a referral to a psychiatrist.

About 7 years I think, every drug and every body is different, it helped me in college I was giving speeches in front of large crowds, I was talking to women in bars clubs and parties and even at bus stops or wherever with confidence, job interviews I took over, work I flirted with supervisors sometimes but I maybe exaggerating but def co workers and I just could chat with supervisors about anything.

Also though I felt I was bad ass on the road, if a dude said something to me I would tell him off, I would tell anyone off. The good comes with bad, yin yang or whatever that goes both ways on or off. I was happier with it but I got so confident I quit and became an anxious mess got back on didn't work, got on a new one recently not sure how it will work.

My two biggest issues beyond that were that I am inconsistent pill taker and missing doses would cause a head shake feeling like my brain was bouncing around my skull. Also it takes forever to orgasm and while women complain about quick guys my girl would get dried up and I would have to finish and even that was hard, sometimes I give up and sleep. Even now some days it will take me 3 tries to finally reach heaven.
