The notion that black people are inherently more athletic or inclined to sports has roots in racist ideas. In reality, black people, by the numbers, are not so much more "athletic" than, say, white people in America.

Simply put, the athletic white people are playing baseball, hockey, tennis, lacrosse, etc. Black people America are often relegated to sports that don't require a lot of equipment and professional training to learn because many black people reside in low income areas (even within football there's a schism between white and minority players)
Look at the players on a baseball team. Look at a hockey team. Look at the top tennis players of the world (yes the williams sisters are up up there but look at their peers).
You see them dominate two sports and you think they're somehow racially inclined?

When black men do great athletic feats it's because their race makes it so
When white men do great athletic feats its because of their work ethic

You see it time and time again

This is a good post but do you not think that athletics is pretty universal? I went to the most whitebread high school you can imagine (we literally had one black guy, one) and everyone did athletics. Running seems to be something that everyone tries to be good at.

the best korean or japanese baseball team can hold up against the venezuelans and such

i don't think race carries the biggest weight in determining athleticism - it's definitely genetics and training
race im sure has some effect, you know, being predisposed to such whatever

but access to fitness facilities and private instructors means that white people in the US probably will be more likely to take up say fencing or swimming

It's mostly genetics (though you can argue race is genetic), especially at the pro level. You are either born to be an elite athlete or not.
