Clearly they put it on to look more attractive whether they know that's why they're doing it or not. Same thing with guys stylizing their hair or whatever. They're doing it to look attractive to other people. There's nothing wrong with looking attractive for other people.

Otherwise girls would put on makeup even at home and would never have to apply any before going out, cause it would already be on.

Itt: looking good can't possibly be done for oneself.

That's sure stupid.

Yeah, of course. But I think what he's hinting at is that women don't wake up and apply makeup, do their hair, etc.. just to sit at home all day and watch Netflix. They know they're going out and are going to be seen.

It's genuinely a part of some womens morning routine whether they're going out or not though.

Makeup is gross. Literally putting goop on your face and then you have to spend time taking it off.

Usually women look great with no makeup, and if they do look bad without makeup a lot of that is because they wear makeup so much.

You literally can't see yourself unless you have a reflection. Why on earth would you need to care about looking good when you are the only one there? Do you sit at home and play video games in your night club attire or your job interview attire? How about a dash of cologne to go make some breakfast eggs? Obviously not.

AND, if you're only one at your home or whatever and for some reason, choose to put on makeup or whatever, by who's standards are you looking better for? The answer is society's. Even if you aren't physically going out in the real world, you still are putting makeup on for what hypothetical people would perceive you as.

Why do you think it's weird when little kids wear a ton of makeup? I mean little kids need to feel good about themselves too. But when we see like 10 year olds doused in makeup, we find it repulsive. Because makeup is meant to make you more attractive to the people you are trying to attract. That's why it's weird for them to do it. You see a kid in light up shoes, they wear it to feel cooler and better about themselves, nobody bats an eye, totally acceptable and fair. You see an 8 year old wearing full on eye shadow, lipstick, blush, fake eyelashes and you find absolutely nothing weird about that? I do. I similarly find it weird when fucking old ass 90 year old grandmas are all caked out too (granted, less weird than when kids do it, but still a little weird). Maybe I'm not as open minded as you.

Ever heard of people doing vain things to get an ego boost/feel superior to others?

You think all those bald middle aged men with insanely expensive cars are doing it purely for women? or those massive bodybuilders walking around like they own the place or stuck up thotts acting like royalty just to attract men? or them urban americans in the hood showing off their gold chains and 100 dollar stacks?

They do it cause they get their kicks feeling superior to others.

Most of the bodybuilders that I've seen or know mainly only show off or talk to other men about it. So... yes?

Make up can be part of how women view their identity just like how guys can view their clothes as part of their identity. Especially in a materialistic world where everyone is told to place high value on their own appearance. So yes, it very much can be for themselves.

Note you should say some girls. Because everyone doesn't think the same. However with said, it is kind of like how some people wear high heels, and get upset if someone suggest wearing safer shoes .
