So the other topic has done pretty well, but a lot of people seem to be under the impression that the annoying customers constitute 99% of the workday. And that's simply not true. So how about we list some stuff that we actually enjoy about working retail?

Number 1 for me, working night shift, is probably all the surprisingly attractive women that come through. It certainly brightens up the night when you see a hot girl who's all dolled up after going out with her friends having a good time and stops for some smokes or a snack on her way home. They're all smiles, usually really flirty, and just generally in a good mood. Just had a beautiful one come through that was so hot the customer in front of her literally stopped in his tracks and watcher her for a good 5 seconds when he opened the door for her before walking out shaking his head and chuckling. XD

It's also nice getting to know some of the regulars. I'm lucky and most of them around here are pretty good people. One of them is a bowler like myself, so he'll often just hang out for 10-15 minutes chatting about how we did in our leagues that week or a new bowling ball one of us just got and how it's working. Another one is a techie/gamer and always asks about my new laptop or what game I'm playing that night and he's recommended a few that I've ended up picking up and enjoying quite a bit.

I should also add that, generally speaking, working retail is really a pretty easy and laid-back kind of job. Most of the time the managers aren't total hard-asses, the actual work you have to do is usually fairly simple, and the hours tend to be pretty flexible. It's something most people don't really consider when they say "retail jobs suck."
