Black actors are getting more and better roles. Women are kicking ass. Supporting casts are more diverse than what they used to be.

I still think improvements could be made when it comes to lead roles, but I do have to give props where they're due. Good job, Hollywood.

Too bad white and black people are still like the only races that exist to them

Yeah. I will admit that Latinos are often overlooked.

Yeah. The 2000s were a largely awful time for cinema if you didn't like the taste of "dark and gritty."

When it's a level playing field.

An Arab woman writes a story about the hardships of a single mother in the inner city, partly inspired by her own experiences, and the studio doesn't ask her if it's okay to rewrite the character as a white woman. Somebody writes an action movie with an Asian lead and nobody inserts Keanu Reeves or Scarlet Johansson into the story instead.

Not every film has to be diverse for the sake of it. But I think the ultimate goal should be a world where anyone could potentially be the star, the costar, the antagonist, the love interest, etc.

Seems more like they're pandering hard because SJWs and liberals blasted them for having nothing but white actors a year ago even through a majority of people in the US are white people and as such more of them are bound to not only win awards, they're bound to overshadow minority performers and artists.

Films like 42 and The Force Awakens are like blueprints for how to make a minority star recognizable overnight: just pair them opposite Harrison Ford.
