I was in shape when I was single, but then I got a girlfriend and both of us got fat

realistically its too late to turn back now but at least ill try to stop getting fatter

I'm almost certainly not going to commit to a lifestyle change that will make me significantly skinnier, but I might be able to commit to one that will halt the progress of fattening

You might find you like how the new lifestyle makes you feel, and decide that maybe it's worth pushing harder to achieve a more significant change. (Fucking love the endorphin reward from working out, it's a better buzz than caffeine or alcohol. Never thought I'd say something like that until I started getting into it.)
