I think Rika is trying to say Americans encounter more dangerous stuff on a regular basis compared to Australia, which may hold more deadly creatures but people don't run into them as much.

Though, his original point was that America has more "terrible" things.

I died a bit on the inside when I googled bot flies. I have mild trypophobia. I'm so glad that I am from New England. The deadliest things here are moose and bears but they don't come to the suburbs of Massachusetts.

From my understanding, North American bot flies don't attack humans, only livestock.

It's the South/Central American and African bot flies that you'd have to worry about.

I think it really depends where you live. On my third day or so of living in Australia there was a poisonous snake chilling at the park. This was way out in the suburbs. But in the city, where I work, and where many people live, there's nothing.
