When it's not reliant on the mother's body.

So if it breast feeds until 6 months it's like a trial period?

Presumably when every body part/organ has developed into a recognizable form and the only change moving forward would be growth.

According to science, a fetus is a fetus is a fetus from about 8-12 weeks after conception (prior to that it is an embryo) until it is born. So "technically" it ceases being a fetus the moment it is born.

Now the viability of the fetus changes significantly in that time period. A fetus at 8 months is infinitely more likely to survive premature birth than one at 4 months.

If life begins at conception how come our age doesn't take that into account and instead we use the day we were born?

Because it's easy to know when your birth is compared to your conception. =^]

At least in Korea it is. Maybe some other Asian countries as well. You're one year old when you're born.

There's light jokes about women giving their "American" or "Western" age when asked because it makes them sound younger.
