Which do you prefer

In this scenario, you are given a magical choice. You can either live the best day of your life on repeat or your life normally. If you choose the repeat option you will forget your decision and will have no knowledge of your situation or choice after every day. You will get to relive it until you would die normally.

I'd probably pick the best day option, but I'd like to get a preview of which day it was first. I suppose in this scenario you can also choose the day.

so what's the point? from your point of view, you'd live that one day and that'd be the end?

what if your best day is a .99, but you still have hundreds or even thousands of .90-.98 days?

While I'm sure the loop sounds found, it seems like a very virtual life plus you'd be missing out on so much else; granted, if the loop brings immortality then.... meh.

If we consider your self to be an amalgamation of every event leading up to your current existence, then such a loop (where memories are lost) would essentially mean your death happens at the end of each of those days. A new self is formed and simply repeats the cycle, but you would only ever experience it the once.

Such an existence sounds far inferior to living a full and normal life, with all of its ups and downs. However, we could then consider what life even means and the nature of pleasure. Would not it be better to only exist in pleasure, or rather to exist singly in the best possible day? Perhaps then we might rather life for only a day, if it be a good one.

I see both sides. I'd rather live normally.

This trope has been explored over and over in popular culture. It almost always turns sour. Give me my normal life.

You know at the end of Bastion when you have the choice of living with the cataclysm or resetting everything and that one chick says something like, "There isn't a single day before the cataclysm I want to revisit".

I often feel that way.

So you're aging? Let's say your best day involved a date or something... That'll get creepy. I think reliving my best year or even best month would be great, but day? Probably not, and the longer ones only if I looked the same.

No, it's basically like groundhog day except you have no knowledge you're in the loop after you choose it. The death thing is like, let's say you're going to live another 30 years naturally. You live your best day normally for 30 years until your time runs out then the scenario ends as if you die.

Ah, okay. Gotcha.

Still though, a day?! That's harsh. I'd be happy to live through 2006 again though :)

If you're unaware of the loop, then that's not living. If you're aware of the loop, you'll get sick of it soon enough. Have you not seen Groundhog Day?

As-is.

It's a bit like asking "Would you rather have your favourite food for every single meal of every day for the rest of your life, or do things the normal way?"

Variety is the spice of life and all.

Loop sounds awful even with memories being kept ala Groundhog Day. This scenario is even worse.
