So when you "rape the women" you are actually "taking the women by force"

porn, when used as a suffix, generally means to make graphic/video entertainment out of said subject.

So Saw is "Torture Porn" because it makes ostensibly entertaining videos out of people being tortured.

Food porn is the same thing but with food. It's not necessarily a "focus" it's more about the presentation of the subject matter.

I don't like using the word 'porn' to describe food, science etc. It feels awkward and corny that you're describing them to be arousing. Obviously, majority arean't aroused. It's like those people commenting "I'm so HARD right now" or about "to ejaculate" when they hear their favorite game is out, it's been overdone and is just eye rolling to read.

I actually do like that use of the term "porn" in reference to film/stories since it provides a good word that implies what you're showing is meant for the audience in a purely visual way, not something that really benefits the story. A good example is the concept of "Scenery Porn", like the often unnecessary but very pretty shots used in The Last Samurai.

It's a redefinition that isn't overtly edgy and works contextually.

Because it's true. Torture porn isn't just a movie that's about torture; films about concentration camps are basically about torture and aren't considered torture porn. It's a movie where the torture is the entertaining part. Food porn isn't just posting a picture of a buffet table full of food, it's posting a picture of food that looks really good. Earth porn isn't a subreddit dedicated to posting pictures and saying "LOOK AT ALL THESE FUCKING TREES GOD YES," it's a subreddit dedicated to beautiful pictures of landscapes.

So to illustrate your grasp on complex vocabulary, you gave entirely incorrect definitions for the words you're complaining about. If it was "inherently obvious" what those words mean, why did you bother to create entirely new meanings for them?

Oh, and no, I don't agree with the premise of the topic. Using rape in that way comes across as a bit childish imo, but I don't have a problem with porn being used that way.

It's not really a word one brings up in everyday respectable conversation. I can understand if somehow looking at pictures of great torture or great food provides you with gratification of some sort, but it's really indicative of a much bigger problem in the age where we are resorting back to using symbols (emoticons, emojis and their derivative) instead of letters and words like normal people.

I don't really care if you dislike the word or not, I just find it weird that you defined them incorrectly.
