The bible does reference demonic possession as Jesus did in the New Testament healed people possessed by demons. But I'm pretty sure demonic possession isn't about a demon taking complete control over the human body.

But Demons and Satan don't really have a lot of power and Satan is far from being the opposite of God.

It doesn't matter if it's real or not. There are enough people on the planet that believe it that it has a strong influence on our culture and history. If it's fictional, it's still culturally and historically significant. If it's not fictional, then it's worth talking about.

That sounds like the NKJV translation, if I'm not mistaken. Every major translation that wasn't designed for readability to 17th-century people uses a different word, IIRC.

I really dislike (N)KJV for this reason. Any advantages it had, it lost centuries ago. NKJV was an improvement by removing the thees and thous but didn't address the bigger issue of changes to meanings of words over time.

Yeah it's certainly confusing. The Old Testament was written in Hebrew, and the New Testament in Greek. The latest of the writings contained within are around 2000 years old, and the oldest were written by Moses, who is also a character in parts of them, and make reference to Pharohs, Kush and Assyria.

Since it's pretty much infeasible for most people to learn two complete languages to read the Bible, and since it's better to read it yourself than to trust some scholar, it's been translated to many different languages. As with lots of.older works, itbeen translated to the same.langu s ge at different points in time as language changes, and often by different translation ideologies. Most of these make sense despite being different. There's even a decent argument for literal translations.

I call plenty of real people piles of shit. If God is real, then I am just making an observation. If he was real, no one would need to believe in him and I don't know if people would like him as much. Being an unseen force that we believe in through faith, allows us to excuse all the contradictions. If He was real, we would be stuck with the cold truth that a real life creator created all the suffering on this Earth and knew it would all happen. Not that we even know which of hundred of versions of God he is, assuming any Christian belief was even the religion of truth. Maybe some lost nomadic culture believed in the correct God and everyone alive is wrong.

I used to be Christian and I was extremely scared when I stopped believing in him because I thought something was wrong with me, but I just can't get behind the concept of faith anymore, especially knowing billions of others also think their other faith is true. We should just stick to the tangible world and not even get all metaphysical. And I have to keep my thoughts to myself in many cases because it is still very hard to be a non-believers even in the modern world.
