Did you guys know that you can buy combo NES/SNES/Genesis consoles from Walmart? (probably, but this is the first time I've heard of it.)

you can even buy a handheld SNES...

I've heard their Retrons are getting better. They apparently don't hold onto the cartridge so tightly that it feels like the pins are getting ripped off when you remove it anymore.

Personally, if I was going to go with one of those, I'd import a RetroFreak instead.

I've seen a few of those at my local electronics shop, never bothered with them though since I don't have many games for it and I don't wanna order a bunch of games online since there's nowhere you can buy them here.

that sounds nice, but how do I buy one? all I have found is one for $250 on amazon.ca but you can get a hyperkin NES/SNES machine for like $65CAD

Concept seems neat but the value is meh considering I still own most of those systems and the added functions aren't that important to me.

I have a RetroN 5. I haven't had any major problems with it yet. It works very smoothly. The controller is asssssss though.

it sounds like that's the one to get. the RetroN 2 only has rca and s-video connections. the 5 has hdmi. but I don't want to spend $200 on it. I would get the 2 instantly if it just had an hdmi out.

Play-asia also sells them. I did a quick look and the Japan release is $200, plus $20 for the NES adapter. Other than needing the NES adapter, I don't think you'd need anything else to play NA releases -- the link on the Premium edition shows it's compatible with FC, SNES, SFC, Gen, MD, GB/C, GBA, PCE, & TG-16. The big advantage to the Retro Freak over the Retron-5 is it plays TurboGrafx cards and supports the original controllers (I'm not sure if you can use actual NES, SNES, or Genesis controllers on a Retron). So, if you don't have any of TG-16 games, I don't see a reason to get a Retro Freak instead of a Retron. Also, both systems have an adapter coming out or already out to play Master System and Game Gear carts. I'm not sure if the Retron one supports SG-1000 carts (which Delta might be the only person here that has any of).
