The rushed timeline doesn't bother me, your clients are always going to want to time your policy briefs/research papers for their purposes.

Omitting something from your report for your client, or looping in advocacy groups to help tailor your press release, really isn't something objective researchers should do, though. It's something I'd expect to see from a politically oriented nonprofit, rather than academics or a municipal government.

To be clear, though, I'm not saying Seattle is unique in doing this. All government contractors probably engage in this kind of thing one way or another. It's just usually not in both an area where we don't have much research and that'd politically relevant, like the minimum wage
