Wide receiver just catches the ball and the tight end can catch but usually just blocks or what?

There are a number differences between the two.
Tight Ends- The TE is usually larger and stays next to the offensive line. They mainly do blocking, but occasionaly catch short range passes.
Wide Recievers- The guys are on both sides of the ball and out a ways from the offensive line. They are tall and fast and do most of the catching.

The tight end has a nice tight ass. likely never used it, either.

the wide receiver is a little bigger, gaping.

Okay gotcha, what about diff between a running back and a quarter back? I'd imagine they do similar roles, quarterback can pass to a running back and the running back throws to a wide receiver/tight end?

I could google this, but I would rather be spoonfed

A quarterback is a teams leader and the most important position.

He controls and leads the team. some QBs can actually be given permission to call their own plays without the coach telling them what to do all the time.

The QB has to be intelligent. He passes the ball to WRs and has to see the field and read it so he doesnt throw interceptions. He also hands the ball off to the running back on running plays. the QB can also run as well. he can decide what to do. If nobody is open to throw to, he may decide to run to gain yards. some QBs are fast and can run well, though usually not as accurate throwing, and some are slow and rarely run but generally are more accurate. A QB may also decide to run if he is being chased by the defense and cannot get a throw off.

the running back runs with the ball on handoffs, and sometimes catches passes. On certain plays he also blocks and protects the QB. The running back never throws the ball, except in certain rare situations or trick plays.

the QB is usually the only guy on the team who ever throws the ball, except for on trick plays. Running back usually tries to run through 'holes' in the defense set up by the offensive line, although RBs are also allowed to go out to catch the ball when the team calls a play that calls for that.

The quarterback got the ball and decides if he will run or throw the ball.
The runners are the ones that runs before the quarterback to clear a way for him and to be in position in case he throws the ball.

There's so many positions though I'm wondering do you get superstar players at every single position? Or is there a few positions were most players have always just been no names/scrubs?

Like in basketball you could name multiple HOF players at each position, but I'd imagine in football you've got like 50 something players on a team, 15 positions or whatever... There must be one or two redundant positions where you always just get some no names

yeah, there are just a few key positions. Most of the players just block and never touch the ball

Edit: but there are standout players in every position. Some just get more attention because they're the ones scoring points.

There are superstar players at all positions, but QB, WR, RB, and TE get the most notoriety because they are "skill" positions kid of like in the other football a striker is always going to be more popular than a defender because they score and the defender does not. In terms of fan popularity, this is. You can get them on defense, too but the majority are in those positions.

You never seen superstar players at kicker and punter usually, because those are like the "geeks" on the team.

I think that's kinda' debatable, depending on whether you feel offense or defense is more important. He's certainly the most important position on offense, but defense often seems to get overlooked.

critical football watchers know that but most other people dont.

as my middle school football coach said "you need to pay attention to the players without the ball, too"

It really isn't. It's not to diminish the other players, it's just that QB is the position that exerts the most control on a game. Teams are more or less not even contenders to win the SB without a top 10 QB. Hell, it's been almost 15 years since a team that won the SB had a QB that wasn't at least arguably top 10.

QB, RB, WR, TE, DE and LB tend to be the "superstar" positions, but QB clearly stands above the rest.

Stereotypes are applicable to enough people in a group to exist in the first place, but don't necessarily reflect most of said people.

The right TE is more of a catcher while the left TE is more of a blocker. When I played football I had good hands but not as quick so I was Left TE. Usually just got blocking assignments would run routes sometimes but you hardly ever get the ball thrown your way.
