Do the games lag as much as they did on Genasis, or more? If it lags on Sonic 1 when rings fly out everywhere, then i's fine - that's how the game itself reacts regardless of platform. If there's added lag for more intensive hardware functions, then fine - the thing sucks.

One of the most attractive aspects of this HDMI-enabled Genesis is that it supports actual cartridges, but again, things aren't as simple as they seem. In order for the system to read a game you need to insert it before powering on the console.

its made by AtGames...They've been making different versions of this thing for years.

There is hope!!!

but here's the deal on both units. A bad production run of the Sega HD got out to reviewers (including me). I'm trying to work with AtGames to get ahead of this, but I think the damage is already going to be done. AtGames is already working on the production fix, which may delay the target September release date.

The Atari HD review units are fine. It's not perfect, but performs the way you would expect.

As for my reviews, obviously I'm not going to bother reviewing the Sega HD unit until the actual fixed units are out there. There's no point. The review units are garbage and only hint at what it's supposed to be. It's an unfortunate mistake, but one that AtGames is working on fixing rather than putting that version out to the public.

it's not made by sega so it's not surprising. they said like almost half the games are garbage unreleased titles as well.

i played the genesis flashback and it's not very good. the wireless controllers weren't very responsive. at least i think it was the flashback. it could have been some knockoff.

shit sucked bro. We tried to play Mortal Kombat with 2 people it was fuckin impossible.

maybe if you had a real wired controller, but the controllers are absolutely terrible (I think they use IR tech)

The old models used IR tech, the new ones are 2.4GHz. Everything is completely improved. You can also use wired original controllers if you want to.

I'll believe it when I see it.

I bought their Sega Genesis "handheld" and that thing was so terrible it was almost comical.

I have a NES Classic and while I do think it was overpriced, it sure as hell nailed it when it came to overall fluidity of the menus, the OS, etc. It has that lovingly crafted Nintendo detail, right down to the crazy catchy theme music.

I am glad AT Games is trying to get past the shitty menus it used to use, though.

I think the actual emulation is pretty decent - Genesis emu-consoles tend to have really awful audio emulation, but supposedly AT Games actually spent a good amount of effort getting the audio right. Since it accepts Genesis carts as well, that means it'll be a reasonable console alternative. The Genesis 3 had some really weird problems for being an official Genesis release.

might want the old genesis controller. the wireless ones that use triple a batteries may also need a screwdriver to constantly remove the batteries if the controller dies.

rechargeable may work.

I consider the OG Six Button controller to be the superior controller for 2d games, especially fighters and platformers. I had a street fighter controler for og xbox that was almost just like a 6 button sega controller.
