Could those religious texts have influenced the content of their hallucinations? And since when are we privileging people in stressful situations 'seeing things' over our own measurable senses? I don't know. Maybe you do this often.

Sass aside, dogma is bad. mkay?

I was reading something recently about people that believed in Hinduism having near death experiences. These people claimed to see Hindu gods, similar to how for example, Christians, claims to see their god or heaven or whatever.

There would be evidence here if they all pointed to the same religious text - which they don't. It changes based on the religion of the person.

They point more toward being the creation of the believer's mind, not proof of any religion's veracity.

But there is no evidence that there is no god.

You can't know until you up and die.

That is not how this works.

Except that is how it works. Why should the majority (ex. those that believe in God) have to explain themselves to the minority? (ex. the atheists) considering believing in God is the de facto stance.

Because they are the one making the positive claim? Also, believing in god is not the de facto stance. No one is a de facto Christian or Muslim or Hindu or whatever. It has to be taught.

Because it's quite impossible to prove that something doesn't exist, as you can't cite evidence that isn't there, but if something does exist, it should be possible to prove. Burden of proof lies in theists' hands regardless of how many more of them there are than atheists.

If you're simply talking about believing in a higher power then yes you can argue that is a de facto stance. However, if you're talking about the Judeo Christian God, then absolutely no because it needs to be taught.
