After an animal dies, all of it's memories are erased from existence. The animal itself is totally unaware it ever existed because the observer of the life is erased.

Well you don't really need to eat it*. Why do you think you need it? The delicious thing I'll grant you. At this point cooking meat smells really strong and not entirely good.

* - most people are fine and do better with a fully plant based diet and appropriate supplements.

Billions go without it

Always?

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3662288/

Healthy eating may be best achieved with a plant-based diet, which we define as a regimen that encourages whole, plant-based foods and discourages meats, dairy products, and eggs as well as all refined and processed foods. We present a case study as an example of the potential health benefits of such a diet. Research shows that plant-based diets are cost-effective, low-risk interventions that may lower body mass index, blood pressure, HbA1C, and cholesterol levels. They may also reduce the number of medications needed to treat chronic diseases and lower ischemic heart disease mortality rates. Physicians should consider recommending a plant-based diet to all their patients, especially those with high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or obesity.

Meh

there is evidence that a broadly defined plant-based diet has significant health benefits. It should be noted that the term plant-based is sometimes used interchangeably with vegetarian or vegan.

...

A healthy, plant-based diet requires planning, reading labels, and discipline. The recommendations for patients who want to follow a plant-based diet may include eating a variety of fruits and vegetables that may include beans, legumes, seeds, nuts, and whole grains and avoiding or limiting animal products, added fats, oils, and refined, processed carbohydrates. The major benefits for patients who decide to start a plant-based diet are the possibility of reducing the number of medications they take to treat a variety of chronic conditions, lower body weight, decreased risk of cancer, and a reduction in their risk of death from ischemic heart disease.

...

Physicians should advocate that it is time to get away from terms like vegan and vegetarian and start talking about eating healthy, whole, plant-based foods (primarily fruits and vegetables) and minimizing consumption of meat, eggs, and dairy products. Physicians should be informed about these concepts so they can teach them to staff and patients.

...

Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.

—Hippocrates, c 460-370 BCE, ancient Greek physician in the Age of Pericles known as the father of modern medicine

So... you don't really want to

I'd say the most annoying thing is reading labels on everything, but you don't have to go all-out. Just cutting out most animal products can have substantial health benefits. If it's a morality thing, you're not going to feel any better about it later by continuing to support current meat/dairy industry practices.

Dude... eggs are one of the worst industries for animal treatment. They kill all of the males after hatching, then keep the laying hens confined until they stop producing as much.

it's chicken ovulation anyway

You're eating up a lot of anti-vegan propaganda. It's fine, a lot of people do. The animal industry literally spends millions every year lobbying it. But this is just an irresponsible blanket statement to make.

It's like Foxx said, you don't need to go all out. Literally just stop eating eggs and beef and that's a massive chunk of unchecked cruelty and waste of resources you don't have to take part in.

No disagreements that we have learned things. However, modern medicine is re-learning the importance of diet as the foundation of health.

It's alarming how much pro-meat agenda there is. There's actually paid beef shills--and you can spot them online pretty easily.

Right now red meat has a bad rap that is being downplayed, and in time other meat may be shown to have similar disease risk. It's difficult to get studies done without adequate funding.

Keep in mind that agribusiness sponsors a lot of studies (or disease societies) that try and assert that meat is needed, or that dairy is healthy and how you should get calcium. There's a huge financial incentive to keep people eating meat and processed foods. That industry influences food pyramids and dietary recommendations from governments. Studies that are not tied to agri dollars show the benefits of plant-based diets.

Canada is redoing the food pyramid and may be eliminating dairy entirely from it.

So I am willing to trust the doctors saying plant-based is the way to be, rather than take health advice from companies with interests in keeping me eating meat (and later needing more pharmaceuticals)

That isn't what you stated before. It all depends on your personal taste preferences. I've found some great options, and even better when going to a veg restaurant where they make things like seitan in house. mmm.

But plant-based diets aren't meant to be centered around meat replacement products if that's what you mean by "plant product". You're meant to get nutrition from the whole meal.

Anyway, nothing tastes "so much worse than animal products" in my experience which is what you had said. It's just different and you can't think of it as meat.

That. Just silly. Try harder. Either in the kitchen or topic efforts. You'll get more enjoyable results.

You know what tastes really good? Chocolate cake. But like heck am I going to eat that every day, or often, because that shit is not good for a person. Tasting good justifying a poor diet explains a lot about America

I don't really think it's related to pro-meat agendas but a lot of folks in North America especially are used to vegetables that are just like, steamed or boiled with no spices or anything so they completely lose all flavour. There are so many things you can do with veggies. Meat is really not that versatile to be honest.

Really, most vegetarian indian dishes are delicious, and many could be slightly adjusted for a vegan diet.

Not that I'm either mind you, but dammit if it isn't good.
