Seriously, I just went on safeway.com to check on deals and saw packages of bacon (4 packs max) on sale for 3.99 and decided to get 4 when I go to the store.

This topic turned kinda dark for a while there.
Continously inseminating cows in order to keep getting them pregnant so that we humans can harvest their milk and slaughter them if they aren't good enough anymore is pretty fucked up when you think about it.

Yeeeeep. You can also include forcing them to live alone, without contact with their own kind, torn apart from families and their social bonds. Mammals are such social creatures--especially herding animals. They want to live as much as anything else does. But they are living just to make someone money. and that's why I'm not going to support the industry any longer. I wouldn't do that to any animal I knew and I'm not just going to do it because everyone else does it and it's socially normal here. In some places it's not.

My enjoyment of steak, or ice cream, just not worth it for me. And I know some people get very defensive about vegetarian diets because they don't want to introspect on the subject and examine their actions.

My kitties can have their meat and I'll eat plants and it's all good.

Cows need to be pregnant, then give birth and be nursing to produce milk. So dairy cows are artificially inseminated and kept reproducing. With factory farming they take the calf away within a few days (if its even that long) and the calf either goes on to produce milk when it's grown if it's female (though she may be bred to not be a good producer and just slaughtered for meat), and males are sent to be veal, or is sent to a feedlot and later killed. And the cow is inseminated again within 3 months.

Why do people get so weird about vegan stuff? Like what compels them to start telling me about all the animal products they're eating? It doesn't even bother me it's just weird and tryhard-y.

I just wanted you to know that I'm drinking diet root beer right now. It's Barqs which means it does have a little caffeine in it unlike most root beers which are caffeine free.

Seriously though it's really good for your health given you get all your vitamins. It's virtually impossible to be overweight on a vegan diet.

Unless you start eating more bread based meal to compensate for the lack of meat (and for being hungry all the time). I know some vegans that got into that trap and ended up gaining weight, unfortunately. In other words...avoid replacing meat by bread.
