o Pennsylvania Girl who went BALD is now a Beauty Queen WINNER!!!

Yes No View Results 18 y/o Sarah Pennington from Philadelphia, a teenager who PULLED out her HAIR when she was younger and developed a condition as she's become the first BALD BEAUTY QUEEN WINNER!! She shaved her head after developing "embarassing" bald spots while battling anxiety and depression. The disorder she developed was called trichotillomania, a disorder she got 7 years ago that lead to her plucking out her strawberry blonde locks, her eyebrows and eyelashes!! She covers her hair, which is shorter than an inch, beneath hats and wigs because she always had an irresistible urge to pull it out But after psychiatric help, she embraced her condition and stopped hiding her baldness in public and raise awareness, she entered a beauty pageant and WON! Sarah said "I used to feel ashamed of my appearance but now have worked through my anxieties and want to promote self-love and awareness in pageant. The compulsion is like an irresistible urge, like an itch you need to scratch but rather than scratching, you pull out your hair and don't realize you're doing it. When i started pulling out my head hair, i started wearing hats, banadanas and wigs to hide it" She entered beauty pageants to raise awareness of trichotillomania and used her platform to talk about being able to stand proud without hair and be happy. Sarah is now a film student in university and hopes she can create a film about her condition and to tell people not to be afraid of it. She's now confident enough that she doesn't need long hair and she's happy with short hair or NONE at all. Although she was bullied throughout her teen years and being an "outcast", she's gotten over that life and now she's going to show people that being bald is beautiful.
