This Abstergo crap is absolutely bonkers, not to mention it's a walking simulator, takes forever, and apparently the AC games are also AC games in universe? What the ****.

I wish this was just a pirate game. :/

I thought you were talking about the band Henry Rollins was in when I opened this thread.

lmao I felt the same thing, I had only ever played a bit of the first game and watched my roommate play some of 2 so I kind of knew about the augmented reality aspect, but... I didn't know it turned into this whole "lol Assassin's Creed games are games in the game!" nonsense.

Thankfully you actually aren't pulled out too often from the actual game itself.
That being said... I hope you enjoy just sailing around and collecting things because once you actually get down to going through the story it's actually pretty crappy.

In a way, it reminded me of Mad Max - fun to screw around in and kill for the side contracts, but the actual core story was a minimal and miserable experience.

I always hated that aspect of AC. It ruins the series for me

Nope. Once the game starts up properly you are only pulled out a few times.

It's one of my favorite and least favorite parts of the games.
It adds actual story to something that is otherwise a "collect the items and kill things through parkour" simulator.
But the fact that the gameplay is so monotonous and slow means that by the time I get to the actual story sections (ie, outside the Animus), I just don't have the patience or time to read through the files and listen to the conversations and see all the details and crap.

Especially in Black Flag where there'd be a 10 minute long recording but no basic fast forward/rewind mechanics for the audio...

I want to meet the guy who thought it would be a good idea to intermittently interrupt a game about swashbuckling adventure on the high seas with walking around a hipster video game dev office with an iPad to reinforce that you're playing a game that's meant for entertainment, and punch him right in his stupid, stupid face.

I'm accounting for the likelihood that the man doesn't have any.

That's fine. The worst part of AC games these days is the OCD collecting.

Gee the Captain sure likes to run the ship aground every few minutes and take a dive for a quick trot around every little island...

That was another annoying aspect of the game. There's a treasure chest on the island... gotta take a whole minute to jump off the ship, swim there, open it, swim back... heaven forbid you can actually run the ship aground since it floats back like two hundred meters from the closest landmass

It almost never takes you back to abstergo. 4 or 5 times for 15 minutes each out of a 25 hour game is nothing

Yeah the fort and ship battles were the best. Random-Treasures should have stayed in the main walking areas. Diving bell and whale hunting were ok.
