The first concept that really challenged me in math was learning long division. But the thing I hated more than anything is proofs. Fuck having to justify each step of my math.

Also I hated learning this really long type of problem in linear algebra, I can't remember what it was exactly but it involved using the Graham Schmidt process as one of the steps. I remember on our final exam the last page had just one question on it, written at the very top, that asked you to do it. Then you had the entire blank page to do it (and you basically needed all that space)

Vectors are the one thing that screwed me up in Calc and Physics. When I took a 3rd year of Calc in college for fun, we were informed vectors in three dimensions would be like the first 6 weeks of class.

I dropped that class like an hour later.

Proofs were tough for me... had a real difficult time thinking up the appropriate applications for some theorems and guessing the right form to put things in for key steps unless I had seen it before.

There was a section on estimation. It confused everybody and we were in elementary school, so our parents saw it and got pissed off, too.

I do combinatorics and bijections are often much easier to explain in words/with pictures than they are to formally define and prove.

When you first learn derivations and they teach you Limit as h -> 0 of [ f(x+h) - f(x) ] / f(h) or whatever. We all knew there was an easier way to do derivations but we had to learn that way first despite the fact that we'd never use it again.

Probably linear algebra. Probably the only math class where I fully did not get the concepts at all. I found it harder than differential equations.
