Of course. Wii was a fluke.

I'm generally Team Nintendo, but the Wii U was half assed from day one.

Not with how the Xbone started out, but whereas that eventually picked up steam the WiiU kind kept sputtering on

Given that the Wii U already flopped, hasn't it already?

Not really. The Wii's success had nothing to do with luck, but instead a calculated ploy to play into the fitness market and to appeal to health-conscious parents. It also brought in a completely different mode of play, something that caught on so well that Sony the Microsuck decided to imitate it... just like how Sony had called the analog stick a gimmick then, seeing Nintendo use it successfully, made it a standard feature on their controllers.

In general, given that the Wii U wasn't really innovating anything incredible, I hadn't expected it'd have the Wii's success. Granted, because the xbone had what may have been the most botched rollout ever and the fact it offered nothing over the ps4, I had half-expected it to go down.

Yep. It wouldn't surprise me if the switch follows suit.

I expect great things from the Switch. The console has tremendous potential.

The tech is great but I feel how under-powered it is and the lack of third party games will be a thorn in its side. Much like with the WII U. Only time will tell though.

Pretty much. The Xbone ironed out the PR nightmare that was its rocky start, but Nintendo never managed to market the WiiU properly, especially not during the one-year head start it had to try and cement an install base. It was a great system (I'd say the only worthwhile one of the generation, really), but they never managed to turn around the downward spiral of poor marketing, a low install base, and low developer interest.

More games or the same games over and over?

I'd actually say both, if we're talking games that came out last gen. Having a PC meant every other console was completely pointless already, but I really haven't bought that many current-gen games that were on other systems, or spent that much time playing them. Most of the more current games I've bought on PC have also been indie titles, rather than more spec-intensive AAA type stuff, and they generally either were available on the WiiU and I went with the PC version for control or price reasons (or just the convenience of being able to transition seamlessly from PC use to playing them), or I didn't care about whether or not they were on the WiiU because I would have wanted the PC version anyway. The WiiU's exclusive library satisfied me pretty well, with a bunch of games that I very thoroughly enjoyed.

Though, if we're talking about playing the same games over and over, DotA and Minecraft would probably take the title there, and those are both PC.

The Wii U GamePad didn't have the same mass appeal that the Wii Remotes did when they first debuted, so I wasn't surprised to see a sharp drop in sales. (I, personally, loved my Wii U, though.)

I remember getting lol'd at by some people on this board for predicting the xbone would still outsell the Wii U, despite all the negative press it was getting at the time.

They were re-released games but that's still more time spent on it than I did the other systems.

Yeah, that was its major flaw. No third parties wanted to design for it.

It didn't need to be designed for, though. It had all the same buttons as other controllers (one of the issues that hobbled the Wii), and the gamepad could simply duplicate the main screen if there was no potential to use it more effectively than that (a number of first-party titles did this). The problem with developer engagement was a combination of the lesser power making it harder to port multiplat titles to it, and it not having the install base to justify exclusive development (in a generation where, more than ever, almost every major third-party title goes multiplat).

I think the switch will do better with support. WWE I believe announced they'll be releasing their games for the switch, which they did not do for the Wii U. It's just one series at the moment, but it makes me hopeful.
