I've tried applying towards a half dozen places online, but their application process is either insanely retarded, or I just can't do it because the entire process is confusing as hell.

Why the fuck can't we just do paper applications? Whose idea was it to have people start doing it online?

If you want the job then yeah.

We used to have paper applications. Some places still do. It's just more easy for the employer when it's done online. Of course nothing stops you from being active and visiting places in order to hand them C.Vs.

I work in Kroger and they require you to apply online. It is kind of monotonous though with the personality quiz which is on every online application I've ever submitted.

Well, you could always try sending them your cover letter and resume in the mail. However, you likely won't even be considered for the job because a lot of companies choose to fall back on certain systems.

Most places just don't do paper anymore, but in my experience it doesn't hurt to show up an and give them your resume once you apply.

You're going to have to do a lot more than 6 applications TC.

I do 20 for every response I get.

Something about it though, I'd much rather do it by paper. Paper applications don't flicker blue light and make you navigate some awkward website that was commissioned by some freelancer.

Because it's literally the only way some places will accept applications/resumes.

Have you tried indeed.com? You can search for jobs in your area and then just attach your name, email address, and a resume. Easy to send to multiple employers at once. That's how I got my job. I don't understand your attachment to paper applications. On the computer I can just copy paste. Instead of writing my name, DOB, references, etc, dozens of times. Not to mention the drive up there. Now meeting the manager and showing initiative -- that I can understand.

I wish they had little gay strippers on them. That would amuse me.

The good news is the odds go from 1/20 to 50% after them getting back assuming you don't screw up the interview.

Even if you use Indeed, some of the larger companies (and some of the smaller high-turnover companies) will make you jump through the hoops of an automated system. The only advantage is that a lot of them will import your resume or take your info from Indeed to fill in parts of the form and Chrome auto-completes stuff as well.

Honestly, though, one of the easiest ways to get a job is to just figure out which bar the employees from your chosen company frequent after work, etc, and just mingle with them there. It's a lot cheaper and more effective than an inmail, but the only problem is that it can take some time to cultivate a way into the company especially when an immediate opening isn't always available. I've had friends who drank their way to their dream jobs.
