Did you read in the news that it is expected that simpson will be paroled after serving 9 yrs of a maximum 33 yr sentence? I've never heard of someone being sentenced for that long for an armed robbery, at least a first armed robbery. Maybe they considered his past when sentencing him. Were they supposed to do that? Was doing that even legal?

No, he said considering his past history was legal, and it is, you can't consider previous crimes he is accused of and not convicted of, but you can consider past actions especially if they are brought up by the defense.
