The caveat of the V twist is that Venom is designed for history to forget him, it has essentially no bearing on the overarching plot because he gets absorbed into the larger BB mythos

TPP probably would've worked a lot better if the twist was revealed mid-game at the latest and we alternate playing between Venom and BB

I honestly never even played any of those MGS games.

I loved the original MGS. I thought the series peaked with MGS2. Enjoyed MGS3. Thought MGS4 was just ok.

Metal Gear 1 was a big deal because we had rookie Solid Snake being commanded by Big Boss, who turns out to be his father. A remake knowing what we know now would've been AMAZING.

Now it's rookie Solid Snake being commanded by some random nobody with Big Boss's face.

Id retcon the whole Patriots story. Keep Big Boss as a hero turned villain who is killed by Snake and MGS ends with Liquids death and Snake rides off with Meryl happily ever after.

End it after 1 basically without the post credits Ocelot stuff.

The whole point of MGSV is that Venom accomplishes just as much if not more than John did and proves himself worthy of the title of Big Boss, even finally being called it by John's former closest friend

MG1 isn't just Solid being commanded by a random nobody with BB's face, and in fact I'd argue that Venom is a better BB than BB was. BB eventually used the title to identify himself as a weapon that lived for the exploitation of the battlefield. Venom used the title in connection with BB's legacy as a hero to have something to aspire to.
