Though it has been over thirty years since former United States president Jimmy Carter was in office, he is still paving the way for a brighter future.

In February, Carter leased out 10 acres of his homeland in Plains, Georgia to be used as a solar farm for the city.

According to SolAmerica, the renewable energy company responsible for the construction of the farm, the panels will generate over 55 million kilowatt hours of clean energy over the course of the next 25 years.

This energy will supply about 50% of the town’s power – which is roughly the equivalent of burning 3,600 tons of coal per year.

“Distributed, clean energy generation is critical to meeting growing energy needs around the world while fighting the effects of climate change,” said Carter in a statement. “I am encouraged by the tremendous progress that solar and other clean energy solutions have made in recent years and expect those trends to continue.”

It's crazy that so many conservatives talk about the bible and religious belief all the time, but Jimmy Carter is actually one of the most passionately Christian people in terms of values and actions in the past century and they by in large hate him.

This is kinda cool, but don't think that he gets no benefits from it. I'm sure he gets good money each month for the lease on land he probably didn't use.

For sure but I can garantee you two things.

1. He didn't take the deal for the money.
2. If he was after money he could have gotten more from other projects.

Carter is one of the precious few politician who actually legitimately cares about his fellow man. I've seen him in his spare time helping to rebuild destroyed houses with no cameras around.

It's actually kinda sad that he was so incompotent as a leader. Imagine his ethics and morals in the body of a man who actually knew what he was doing

Jimmy Carter was a spineless president.

But he's still a really good man.

Carter was an awful president, but he at least stuck to his beliefs and actually does volunteer work because he believes in what he's doing and not just for publicity.

yep.

Carter's worst problem is that he was just too honest and ethical to be president.

Carter's post-presidential work is beyond reproach. The humanitarian role suits him much better than the presidency did, as we far too weak of a figure during a time (the Cold War) when the U.S. needed someone willing to show global strength.
