Because of water conservative Muslims tend to share disapproval of, say abortion and homosexuality, with their conservative Christian cousins. If that is so, then it isn't exactly fair to shit on Christians in general, but call Islamophobia, racist, or Not All Muslims when someone does shit on Muslims for that.

The fact that Christians have a more organized power structure in the US doesn't, or shouldn't, excuse the bad behavior of Muslims.

I can only speak for myself but I do not believe the left hate Christians and love Muslims. Now for myself I hate religious extremism in all its forms. Now to me while Muslim extremism is more violent and deadly Christian extremism in its most common form is just as dangerous. Though it’s hidden, it pretends to be your friend, your guardian, it tells you it’s the good guy and well defend you while rewriting the government to suit its needs.

The religious right in my opinion is the most powerful force in America. It controls the republican party and influences the Democratic party. Religion and government are supposed to be separate but the influence of Christians can be seen. And they want more.

The religious right uses Radical Islam as it’s tool to gain power. While they have always been trying to gain more influence in the government and the communist threat helped them with Muslims it’s “They will take us over at any time, already have hidden training facilities in the US, and they are weakening us.” This fear in Islam is great for Christians for reasons I stated above.

I just don’t think the answer to stopping Islam is to turn America into a Christian Theocracy but that seems to be the goal of many on the right. When someone says, “I am a Christian first, a Conservative second, and a Republican third” and never mentions he’s an America I am worried. Especially when that man is one twitter outrage away from being President.

All of those points are fair, but it still doesn't answer TC's first part of the question. Why has liberalism, which is fundamentally different from Islam, embraced Islam? Is it, as Admiral said, because of the victim mentality and how that breeds intersectional bed fellows?

because politically they are not a threat to those issues depsite having conservative views on them

and ideologically liberals oppose persecution of any minority group

note that losing political battles over partisan issues is not persecution

so when OP uses the words 'love' and 'hate' he is creating a strawman
