I read that you want Ethernet going to both your PC and your Steam Link, but... doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose?

Like, if my modem is by my PC, the whole point of buying a Steam Link would be to play games on my TV without running an HDMI cord across my apartment. Am I supposed to buy a 100 foot long Ethernet cable and run that instead?

I've got Ethernet running to my PC, but I don't really see the point of having the device if I have to also run Ethernet to my living room.

Ethernet is always preferable but it should be fine if you're getting a good signal to your steam link

Alright, sounds good. I get that of course it's preferable, but yeah, just doesn't seem practical.

I got my steam link hooked up with ethernet cable and desktop is transmiting through wifi 1 room away via 5 ghz.

I pretty much get no slowdowns since the last updates. Input lag is quite low, probably around 40 ms I'd say. Most gamers won't even notice it, unless you're playing CSGO or something similar. I tried it with Dark Souls 3 and had no problem with any of the bosses. I also use it to stream movies.

That's a great idea. I didn't realize it just worked as a way to stream your PC, not just games.

Well, I bought it. The connection, despite being three out of four bars, is INCREDIBLY bad. Just stuck frozen on the main screen of a game with the audio chopping.

What a waste of $50. Guess I'm really supposed to rub Ethernet across my whole house for this thing to work? That's a joke.

Can some explain what the purpose of this device is? Why would I just run HDMI from the PC to the TV if you're expected to run Ethernet for it to work?..
