Anyways, imo

X > 2 > 5 > 3 > 4 > 8 > 7 > 6

Admittedly 5 should probably be lower but it has sentimental value to me. Also probably had the most interesting use of the series mythology imo.

While 4 was relatively easy, next to 1, the FMV anime cutscenes, the intro, and the two different games in one make it stand out above the rest. I used to rank 2 over 3 before I learned to get around the increased difficulty and found it more fun overall. 5 is when I felt they started getting lazy with production. It didn't come off as good as 4 did. 8 was ok...though I hated the Sigma design and fight. 6 and 7 just as soon not exist.

Music is good though.

Don't forget the Gate fight itself. Literally just tries ramming into you while you fuck around over a bottomless pit and wait for him to crap out the energy orbs you need to actually damage him. Lazy attack pattern, and is more a test of enduring tedium than technical skill.

And to give Alia credit, at least you could just ignore her in this game, unlike X5 where she was constantly stopping the action to nag at you.

been awhile since i played but i pretty much keep them all in order. first 4 are definitely the best with 1 being my favorite. never played 8 and barely played 7 since i didn't like it. 6 i didn't care much for either so that's last of the ones i beat.

yea 1-7 all in order. 8 is the only one that could jump up. 2 and 3 might be switched around. i'd have to play them and 4 again to see which i liked better.

These sound like X6 was unpopular solely because it was a step towards the difficulty of its early ancestors.

The reploid rescuing was completely optional. Museum RNG iirc was varied but fair. So long as you could pass it you were able to move on. Gate stages I remember having some difficulty but bosses were piss easy maybe except Max.
