I don't get how Smogon comp is set up (though it may have changed by now)
Like, they ban certain combos or doubling down on status effects so that it's not too widespread or whatever, but allow Stealth Rock (and Spikes to a much lesser extent iirc) to essentially control the whole meta, to the point that Pokemon live and die by their weakness or resistance to Stealth Rock's damage. --- ... no, my piloswine had stealth rock already. i meant to take stone edge to deal with ice types, took a second stealth rock instead.

IIRC they had a meta back in BW where stealth rock was banned and all it did was make good pokemon like salamence and volcarona more terrifying while stuff like Dustox still sucked.

Dragonite was unstoppable in that mode with no check to multiscale. Yeah they balanced around it instead of nerfing it unfortunately, defog in gen 6 helped a bit but it's still in literally every match to a degree.
