Board 8 > One thing I liked about the champion in Black/White 2[Poke Champs spoilers]

She's the only one that starts off really strong.




Blue? Starts with Pidgeot/Sandslash

Lance? Gyarados

Steven? Skarmory (And Wallace with a freaking Wailord)

Cynthia, while no pushover, starts off with Spiritomb.

Gethisis isn't technically a "champion" but he sends out Cofagrigus.

Alder sends out Accelgor

Diantha sends out Hawlucha

And finally Kukui(also technically not a "champion") starts with Lycanroc.

Some are decent, but most are pretty nonthreatening( Was Gyarados really a big deal in gen 2?)

Iris? Starts with fucking Hydreigon. The Pokemon that was literally Gethsis' ace in the hole. Say what you want about her, but she was ready from the word go.

Hey, Skarmory is a good lead. It resists or is neutral to every Physical type in Gen 3 and has Spikes and Roar.

In competitive sure. But Steven's Skarmory doesn't have Roar/Whirlwind. And while Toxic damage can add up, it ultimately won't kill you outside of nuzlock runs going south.

Kukui literally starts off first turn Stealth Rock with Lycanroc

Gyarados didn't hit as hard pre Gen 4, but people forget that it's a pretty sturdy Pokémon (aside from the obvious Electric weakness) and can hit hard with anything that is physical.

And yeah, Spiritomb is not a monster but it's such a hassle to deal with and it's only the first of her Pokémon.
