I'd like to start blogging or something and I have ideas but when it comes to writing them up I usually just post on CE or reddit instead

Use blogger/WordPress free hosting, and anything you write here or reddit that is substantial enough put there.
When I had my blog it was more about having an archive of my thoughts and things that interested me. --- If you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all ... Copied to Clipboard!

I think an easy thing to do is to keep a Notepad journal for a couple months, just to get in the habit of writing daily. I kept a log for about eight months a few years ago. It was exhausting (and boring, and illuminating, since I used it to track how I spent my time)
