I was thinking that I wanted a tattoo, so i got a tattoo. I've had it for 5 years now and I haven't regretted it once.

"This is a cool way to symbolise the importance of this thing in my life, and looks pretty awesome too!"

My brothers have tattoos, so I wanted tattoos, too. And I regret nothing. Ever.

yeah because sitting down and willingly have somebody apply a needle to your skin and burning it for cosmetic purposes isnt weird or anything, its the equivalent to cutting.

That's pretty much exactly what it is. Some people do eventually end up regretting it, but those people are mostly the ones that get something "cool" in their teens/early twenties and don't think about it at all before rushing out and getting a tat just so they can say they have one.

Personally, myself and all of my friends that have tats are all proud of what they got because each tat means something. My tat is a quote from one of my favorite books that almost perfectly describes the morals according to which I live my life.

Where do you get the idea that it's burning you from?
And no. It's nothing like cutting, it's like being poked with one of those insulin pens, or sometype of hypodermic needle tons of times. And the needle doesn't go anywhere near as deep. It hurts less than having an IV put in.

And people always have and always will endure a small amount of pain for cosmetic purposes. Tattoos really don't hurt that bad.

On that note I love my tattoos and can't wait to get more done.

I could never get a tattoo.

Considering how much I change my mind and debate how I want to do something and how I never seem satisfied until it's perfect, a tattoo is just an incredibly anxiety-inducing concept to me. I simply can't make those permanent lifelong decisions when they're totally optional. I've also changed major fashion styles several times throughout my life so I know my tastes change and that I will eventually hate any tattoo I get.

I don't know about that homeslice. When I got my full sleeve, it fucking sucked near the armpit/entire interior of the bicep, and the crook of the elbow/putter elbow.

That's just the sleeve. I'd have to say getting my butt tattooed was probably the worst experience ever for pain; but, I did have sex with the artist in her shop afterward, so it kinda made up for the four hours of agony.

that's why you need to pick something that will always mean something to you. i have a pink floyd tattoo because ive loved them for 15 years (since i started listening to them) and i know I'll never not love their music

Most people with tattoos get them to represent deep meaningful things like love for their spouses, tributes to dead loved ones, a spiritual or philosophical mantra they live their life by, or anything that really just deeply means a lot to them on a major level that they want to use to identify themselves.

Nerds don't understand this because the only things they care that much about are mountain dew and their gaming PCs. They don't need tattoos as long as they have Kohl's t-shirts that explain they're a member of the sarcasm society.

I don't have tattoos for the same reason I don't put bumper stickers on my car: I don't think it's necessary to constantly advertise my thoughts or feelings on anything. I save that kind of thing for conversations.
