What the hell happened there and why did the runner have that guy on the couch in the first place?

He maybe should've said something at some point because the runner seemed to be actually annoyed and it made things way more awkward than they should've been. And, yeah, like you said he ran that into the ground so hard.

Also if your goal is trying to get the twitch chat to show some semblance of logic or the slightest glimmer of not being a toxic mess, you're fighting an uphill battle you can't possibly win. Might as well try to teach a dog to juggle.

That does make sense as to how he got on the couch though. I couldn't figure out why some hostile rando was taunting the runner during his run.

I mean, it seemed pretty clearly a joke to me from the beginning. Not necessarily a particularly great one, but a joke nonetheless.

The guy actually did an AMA on r/speedrun and this is 100% correct.

Glad it was just a joke! Probably could've been executed better but whatever. I'll have to rewatch it and actually focus on the run next time because I was distracted by the commentary my first time through.
