Pretty awesome, yeah. 90s were better, but 80s were a cool time to be alive.

It was the age of brass and glass, Trump, cocaine, divorce, latchkey kids, conspicuous consumption, ozone-depleting aerosols, trickle-down economics, important old white men, oil, synth-pop, the hostile takeover, etc.

You do realize that, apart from the aerosols, you've basically just described the 2010s as well.

I mostly remember Transformers, Glow Worms, and Popples.
I think there was also an early type of Technozoid.

The clothes and over the top colors were terrible, and everyone was doing cocain. But the music wasn't half bad (although much worse than the 70's and 90's) and the movies were weird as fuck.

So yeah I'm sure it was weird as fuck, and most people look back at it with regret.

Pretty awesome :)

Great cartoons, great games, sleep overs at grandmas, every suburb had multiple arcades, mum n' pop shops thriving..

People seemed a lot happier

It was pretty awesome.

If you want some idea the following movies pretty much nail the vibe:

Breakfast Club (yes - saturday detention was a thing)
Fast times at Ridgemont High (pretty much a high school documentary)
War Games (surprisingly accurate depiction of computers - minus the WOPR)
Sixteen Candles (pretty accurate representation of 80s parties)
