Laughing too much? What was funny about it? I only laughed when Rod was involved, but that dude was awesome, come on. Overall I wouldn't say it's a funny movie, it was intense as hell.

It's because they're reaching hella far to find stuff that's not in the movie so they can feel "woke"

Jordan Peele said there's some obvious slavery undertones going on, which is blatant af and fine, but i've read lots of reviews that dissected every scene in an effort to relate it back to race. Like sometimes, a scene is just in a horror movie because it's kinda scary. it's hilarious how much effort they go to.

Is it bad that I thought the movie was just 'good'? Everyone has so much praise for it and finds a bunch of deep stuff about the movie, but when I saw it, I liked it, but wasn't really in love with it either.

I just thought it was a fucking fantastic horror movie, with or without the racial symbolism. Of course I'm basically not allowed to think that these days. it's 2017, everything has to be about racial messages.

haha nice then you were correct from the start. people use "horror" too loosely, even imdb lists this movie as one iirc.

The concept of what is going on is certainly more like something you'd see from a horror movie so I think it fits the genre fine. But yeah I wouldn't say it was scary.

Man that whole album is fantastic imo

I thought it was fantastic, especially for it to be Jordan Peele's first original film, which is part of what drastically sways opinion to the 10/10 or 5/5 range. Dude has never made a serious thing in his life yet somehow uses context and subtlety like a seasoned vet

The party scene was seriously so great. I like how there's two layers to it. The "how white people look at black people" stereotypes and also the hidden agenda for why they're asking the guy their questions. Like that lady with the black guy fetish who is asking because she wants her husband to take over his body.

Then you've also the color-blind guy (who's literally blind) who insists he's not racist but he takes advantage of the situation anyway.

One of the most tense parts of the movie being the cop car showing up right at the end before you realize it's his friend was done pretty well too.
