With 16 films and a billions of dollars under the bed (we're joking, we're sure it's in a bank somewhere), it's hard to find fault with the way that Marvel and Disney have gone about creating their enormous cinematic universe – and now the brains behind Bond are looking to get in on the action.

Jeff Sneider, a writer for Hollywood Insider, has claimed that the Broccolis, the producer family behind the Bond movies, are more than a bit interested in creating their own inter-connected universe for 007, tweeting: "I've heard the Broccolis have caught Universe Fever and would love to explore other corners of the Bond franchise... simultaneously."

God damn. Everyone in Hollywood is obsessed with this.

I remember they were considering a Halle Berry (Jinx?) spin-off back in the day.

Maybe we will finally have an Asian star lead with Oddjob?!

This is such a bad idea. It works for media that is about a lot of characters, like superhero comics that already share a world. For Bond, though, the only important character is Bond and nearly everyone else are just interchangeable stereotypes. Not that it's a bad thing, but it's a power fantasy and an exploration of a single character type. Everyone else in the film is a set piece to move Bond from point A to B.

Wonder if Daniel Craig will ever return. I figure he was sick of it and needs a break plus he probably figures he can get more money if he holds out for a while. A true win win for him. Though maybe he truly is determined to never play the character again.

But if this is true, then the movie James Bond doesn't have to be exactly like the book James Bond

How will they solve this one??

Haven't you ever wanted a 2 hour movie that explains why Jaws has steel teeth though?!

Because that is what I want to see. Richard Kiel running around for two hours, seducing scantily clad babes with sweet nothings whispered through the two ton grill of a Chevy he has in his mouth.

I'd been thinking recently about how cool this would be. I'm glad to see it actually happening.

Felix Leiter could have his own film. Moneypenny could have hers. Skyfall made her an action hero. Hell, if they wanted to focus on a villain protagonist, it'd be interesting to see Blofeld or Scaramanga get a film.

One thing though, do not go with Jynx as a protagonist. She's like Jar Jar with boobs. Halle Berry is smoking hot. God's honest truth, her face and her body were enough to make me enjoy Catwoman. But Jynx doesn't deserve a second chance. Just dump that character and do a movie based off of Wai-Lin.

I was about to say this was probably a bad idea but then I thought "What if they did a 006 movie" and suddenly I became interested.

It would make zero sense because I want Sean Bean to return so it would have to be a sequel but I don't care.

Seriously though, who would these films star if not Bond? You could maybe make a movie about one of the villains showing a tragic fall from grace but it's only good for one or two times before it becomes a cliché/repetitive and I don't know if an M or Q prequel would be that interesting. Seeing M kick some ass would be cool but it would just be a James Bond movie without Bond so...

Felix Leither is a CIA agent that isn't as cool as Bond. That seems pointless.

Moneypenny is fine I guess but her field agent stories seem to already be done.

There are a ton of movies out there like the Bond series. I just saw one with Kevin Cosner. 3 days to kill. Ed Skrein, tom cruise, and of course Matt Damon have movies out.

On the contrary, Felix's movie could be a remake of Licence to Kill, but with Felix getting his own revenge. Silva kills his wife and lowers him into a shark tank, leading to his left leg being amputated below the knee. He temporarily retires from service, but only so that he can wage his own personal war for revenge without being accountable for his actions.

Giving him a prosthetic foot would be a new wrinkle for the character. Previously, amputation had meant his removal from the series. This time around, he could continue to be an action hero, albeit one with a slight limp.

And the bitterness that he deals with isn't over the loss of his foot, but rather the loss of his wife to the same man who took his foot, Silva. He'd be like a cross between Dr. House and Daniel Craig's Bond.
Let him be the gritty one and let Bond be the suave one again.

God I hope this isn't true. Bond is about Bond. Why would anyone care about the current M's origins, 001's life, or Goldfinger's rise to power or whatever other stupidity a potential Bond cinematic universe would dig up? None of that is even worth a passing thought much less a movie dedicated to it.
