^Less is more for me, because my imagination is quite spirited. Trying to tell it what to do in painstaking detail usually just causes my mind to wander.

Honestly barely saw any resemblance between King's Running man and the movie. Much prefered the movie TBH, only think I read the short story ...maybe twice.

Yeah, the book was some hum-drum conspiracy thing which was so focused on making a social statement that it had almost no room for fun, save for the ending.

Yeah, King until his accident made some masterpieces, he was a god of writing.

Never been a big fan of Koontz tbh, some of his stuff was alright, but I honestly can't remember any of it anymore.

I'm not one for fiction outside of horror anthologies, but I could never really read Stephen King. His writing style and my brain just aren't friends. He's probably the only author I have had this problem with. It's almost like reading something that has been translated to me.

I like his short stories, but most of his novels don't have enough of a payoff. Christine was okay, though, although I half prefer the film because the car was always evil in that version -- even killing somebody right in the factory while "Bad to the Bone" was playing.

In general, he writes in a pretty blue-collar way and, in a long of his stuff, he's overly fond of cultural references. The one big advantage is that so much of his stuff adapts well to film and mini-series.

As for Dean Koontz, my favorites were Life Expectancy, Intensity, Phantoms, Tick Tock, and Velocity.

I went through a Koontz phase in high school (my school library had like a dozen or so books and I read most of them one after the other), but I can't for the life of me remember any of the books I read. Because I'm talking like 25 years ago, here.

I vaguely remember one book involving a skyscraper and climbing gear, maybe? I've got a mental image of someone rappelling down the outside of a building, but that's about all I can dredge out of my brain.

Oh, and the one with the psychic dog. But I remember that one more from the movie with Marc Singer than I do the book.
