I make arrangements for a 6 month lease renewal, go into the office to sign said lease, then the manger not only forgets said conversation but has someone else lined up to take it. Now I got to find a new apartment by the end of July if I want to take my final semester(for my AA) in college.

Maybe I can find a room in someone's house to rent because I am sure(gonna make sure tomorrow when their offices are open) that the other apartment complexes are full as well this late into the season. Glad I took no study heavy courses this summer semester because this stress is something else.

In their defense, which is reasonable because they have dozens of other people to deal with, if you didn't get anything in writing then you can't expect the word to hold up.

Is there an email or something you can show? Like maybe something between you and the manager where you talk about making the appointment.

Honestly, in most places it is pretty hard to evict someone on short notice. All you have to do is threaten to hold out for as long as the law allows. He will either need to lose you both (new tenant won't stay with him when he can't provide an apartment.) or lose the new tenant and if you have been paying faithfully every month I don't see why he would go with the unknown unless he is that spiteful.

Pretend to be the new person and sign another lease

Based on his memory he probably doesn't remember their name or what they look like

Nope, not unless they have recorded the phone conversation. Previously, I never had a reason to doubt their word as they have always followed up whatever they said. I will just cut my loses and hopefully sign a new lease before the move out date.

It is not a short notice. I knew about the previous lease length since the day I signed it. I just wish when asked about a potential renewal that she informed me of the spot already being taken. Apparently the 6 month spots were taken up by Feb of this year. I am hoping that the complex down the street isn't full because the townhouses nearby even if available are double the current rate.

In a surprising amount of places the lease end agreement is not considered a valid eviction notice and the landlord still has to give you written notice that they have chosen not to renew your lease.

Update: Gotta move but I found an complex nearby that is charging the same amount with the same benefits(minus benefit of being really really really close to college) with no deposit needed. Checking it out tomorrow after class. Just gotta rent a storage unit and put my stuff in there + find out the cost of an hotel/motel for the last week of class + finals.
