It's true, honestly. It sometimes takes me a bit to come down from the game perspective but yeah, I saw everyone getting upset and demoralized and knew I had to act against that. Not that broken, he doesn't matter, etc etc. Like, I had to do that Leo or scum was going to become really upset and lose their cool. I specifically made sure Puns remained in his megazord happy place.

I want to say that I keep my game persona and scumboard persona separate. Like yes I was drunk and I was ranting about the setup on the scumboard, but I was never going to give up or roll over because of Leo's role. I knew I was in a great spot to have a chance at winning anyway. I just needed to vent out of game in order to keep my balance in-game.

I made posts like "I'm not that upset, just sighing because it's going to be a long game." or "Knowing we can't kill Leo changes my whole perspective." Or "Man I'm not salty in a real way but that role is STUPID." and stuff like that

My choices for scans night 1 came down to dowolf and Puns btw. If I had scanned myself innocent I would have been very salty. Though honestly, that might have made me think puns was scum a little more strongly. Funny what-if though!

There was already paranoia that Chris was a perma strongman, which would make most protection in the game utterly useless so you could've played that up some! There was actually discussion on the mason board (or was it in game?) that Scare's doc save could've meant nothing with perma strongman Chris in the game.

Again, the real counter to your role was actually Leo, because Leo was a delayed jack essentially. But I would put multiple jacks in a game too so even that wouldn't doom you.

Just reading it, it certainly seemed like the coaching Chris was giving helped, but I suppose I could be wrong! It just looked like at various times that you, Han, and MI wanted to "give up" to various extents. Again, I didn't know what was going on in your heads exactly so I could be way off, but there was a possibility the overall environment of the board turns very negative if Chris isn't around.

(This isn't taking anything away from you btw I still think you played out of your mind)

And I don't know if anyone will really care but since I keep getting emotional in mafia games and apologizing it might be worth me actually explaining. If you don't care that's fine, but I think I'll feel better typing this out.

I struggle a lot with issues of acceptance and belonging. I grew up in a small town and it was not a good town to grow up gay in. When I came out, I literally lost all of my friends and the church I went to asked me not to come back again. The remaining years of high school sucked and I moved to a big town as soon as I graduated and my life is great now, but those issues stick with me. If a couple of my friends hang out without me, I still struggle with feeling like they don't actually like me and want me around them.

So in mafia, when it comes to getting lynched... that's what I feel like. Like that game doesn't want me in it. Which I know, I KNOW is stupid. Especially when I actually am scum and you actually need to lynch me. But those feelings, combined with no one responding to my posts, took me to a dark place. If I just put my phone down for 30 minutes I would've calmed down, but I didn't and I spiraled and I'm sorry. I love playing mafia, but it sure can mess with me.

Also you shouldn't feel that way here! I know just saying that isn't really going to change how you feel about things, but no one here is trying to run you out for who you are.

EXCEPT for Shad. That dude is just a straight up monster though.

YOU weren't obvious, it was the fact that you were bussed that gave the game away, only way you get away with that is if Death was scum and hadn't been roleblocked or the roleblocker was already dead... and it's only cus MI flipped what he did. It's not like I saw your play and went, oh there's scum puns, you're way better than used to be when you taught me.

Ben was actually already in a Suprak game before! He was The Zika Virus, TOWN Poisoner in Fuck 2016 Mafia. You were very mean and killed him night 1.

But yeah I felt bad cutting him last second. Menu too. And basically everyone else I had to that signed up (MZero, Sceptile, IGCD...I'm sure there were others but sign ups were like a month ago now and I don't remember).

The only one who had never played in one of my games though that didn't get in was Sceptile. I usually try to get a good assortment of new blood in my games to keep things fresh.

Puns announcing he was gonna go after scum every day at the end was hilarious. Kudos for getting away with it. Leo was an awesome read this game. MI was pretty good. Very different red from what I am used to. Jeff was fun. good setup.

The night we shot leo, I kinda wanted to shoot red instead for a while. Pretty sure that would have lost us the game. The reason my situation ended up being so good is that there were two town backed into a corner but neither of them had to conclude I was scum. Like if the the last day was just Leo, Nana, and me, we have a good chance of losing.

On the flip side I specifically remember you saying something along the lines of "home run ball here is block death shoot Leo" the night before you shot him.

That leaves the unconfirmed BG alive, kills Leo before he can kill Shad, and keeps Death trapped in roleblock hell so you guys possibly win a couple days earlier!

Also the reason I thought MI surviving to gank Death was big was it automatically put Leo in RB hell the rest of the game (because of course he is going to try to recruit the body removed Death) so even if you guys got cute and decided not to RB Leo at all, he still would've been roleblocked.

Oh and the blocking Leo the night we shot death is kinda funny looking back.

It just made sense for us because we didn't care about death's scan since we used the jack's body removal on him, which made his corpse untargetable.

Then once day started I realized by our actions we had implied scum was confident the RBer wouldn't get lynched. And I was like "oh shit". I made some comment like "maybe scum has extra tricks left, just not gonna dwell on that" and the ironic part is we literally had a backup RB all game and never knew it.

Fundamentally I think scum should have been told about the backup RB. Sure it would have been a fun moment if I die day 1 and then we find out we can still have a RB, but in most scenarios scum would just over extend to keep the RB alive then get salty when they realize they stuck out their necks for no reason.

I debated informing you guys vs not informing you guys back and forth.

Ultimately I didn't want the RB getting bussed because "oh who cares we have a second one anyway". I don't think that is fun (but then everyone tried to bus you anyway so 'whoops'). It is the same reason I don't like usurper roles, really, in that I'd like all of scum working together and not plotting to gank one for a strategic advantage.

Plus I thought the kingsmoot would be FUN and didn't want to make someone on the team a backup RBer. Again, in my 19 person setup there was a rotating blocker and I still kinda wanted to leave the option open for whole would be the backup next. Letting you guys pick who would inherit the seastone chair was fun for flavor reasons.

Also ever since I've seen "SECRET" roles or conditions in FFD Mafia (still one of my favorite mafias) I've been kind of obsessed with them. It adds this fun level of possible chaos to the game in a way that doesn't fundamentally undermine the basics of the game. I'm not crazy enough to put in bonkers awful roles like death miller or joker or anything like that, but I feel like little twists here and there keep things interesting and fresh. Just my opinion, though!

Scare actually started the research cycle quoting your "name all the scum post" and mentioned something like "huh this is weird" but then got caught down the red rabbit hole. Also all of your posts after that (or the scum team's posts towards you) made it look more and more unlikely you were the RBer. So it was possible that could have happened if you guys hadn't played well!

I am very glad I didn't get lazy with blocking in the end. The thought of Leo getting a one use of every recruit never crossed my mind for a second.

Also about my original thought of claiming my real role, yeah I'd have been DOOMED. And, in the moment, I figured claiming my whole team was less deadly.

That's one of the beautiful things about mafia. In the end, odds don't matter. Whether what you're doing is considered good doesn't matter. Everything is super in the moment and subjective. The end justifies the means.

I don't think they were tired as much as they were really, really sure that Han and Shad wouldn't park themselves on the RBer day 1 with FFD not even voting yet and votes flying around back and forth really quickly. It was more along the lines of "scum doesn't kill their RB day 1for seemingly no reason" was their basic argument. Scare spent the entire night cycle the day before going through old posts, so even if some of them were tired Scare clearly had energy left to do the work for them.

Yeah as mafia (scum) you just do anything you can to live. Probably my greatest talent long term as scum is game to game being able to manipulate perception, and you did it here too. People go "oh yeah I was observing it was obvious" but people don't really understand sometimes it is different to play and to observe, and your field of vision is different mentally. Like go run a poll of "Is it a very bad idea for mafia to list their whole team at the beginning of the game?" and I think we could predict the results of that poll. But in this game, with these players and roles and in this timeframe, I thought "ya know what, I think it's fine here." And even if it would never work again, I get that satisfaction forever and ever.

I want to clarify for anyone who doesn't know, I am always the chattiest person in postgane regardless of alignment or the result. I just love the reflecting part.
