Turns out Trump did have ties to Russia but non-political. He once went on a date with Putin and they exchange passionate French kiss. Afterwards they both agreed the relationship wasn't working out and went separate ways. No political collusion, no selling or trading deals, just a date.
But Trump has been trying to hide it and his people as well because he is embarrassed and Putin is also homophobic and don't want it to get out.

What if this turned out to be true?

Some things are such an obvious certainty that they leave no room for skepticism.

But that would be the least impeachable thing he's done.

The definition for "impeachable" is really fluid. Drafting articles of impeachment are the result of a congressional hearing, and the process isn't prescriptive, there's not a collection of conditions wherein they are obligated to bring impeachment to a vote. They can hear all manner of evidence and decide they still don't want to begin the impeachment process. They would still have to face their constituents, and that's a different matter tangentially related to why Trump's approval numbers matter. Beyond a certain point not beginning the impeachment process might hurt them, but the GOP has great survival instincts, so I'm confident we've not yet hit that moment. Still long story short, 'impeachable' is largely whatever congress says it is.
