I don't mean using coupons to save money on items you need. I mean people who are literally obsessed with it.

And they say they're saving money but most of the ones I notice are poor so....How?

No problem with couponers if they are prepared. I can afford the shit i like but nothing wrong with saving some money. When you wait until all your stuff is ready and you need to pay to get your coupon, thats a problem. While you are waiting online you should be ready to checkout, not dig around your purse or search your phone. Then they complain there is no service.

I have had people who have the no service problem and drop hints that they want me to give them the discount anyway.

"I have the coupon on my phone"
"Ok"
"Damn, I have no service"
"Yeah the service here sucks"
"It will take awhile"

Thats when I hit them with "Thats okay I will wait" then I call someone else on a different register to move the line.

That shit is insane now. You can do weird deals to get stuff for free. I know a few people that haven't actually paid any money for paper towels in years.

For those people it makes sense if you have a large family/buy in bulk. But yeah for a single person for example it doesn't make much sense depending.

I will say tho, Bed, Bath and Beyond's coupons are AMAZING. You can generally use them on only one item, but you can use as many as you have per transaction. So for example, if you're buying 10 items, and have ten 20% off coupons, you can get 20% off on each item. It really adds up. I buy all my cleaning/personal care stuff there, way cheaper than CVS or anywhere else if you use coupons.

As a retail worker, it not only creates stress for me and my co-workers, but it prevents me from doing whatever I need to do when a couponer is either holding me up or holding up whoever's working the front (which means I have to hop on the 2nd register and help check out customers). I also have to deal with the inevitable angry customer because the couponer is taking forever on their transaction.
